I remember when the first digital copies that were included with movies started coming out, and you had to download an actual file to your hard drive. I envisioned needing a number of 5TB external drives to hold all the movies I wanted. But with the advent of Vudu, MA, iTunes having a streaming service where all your movies were stored on their servers, it became more useful to me. I enter every code I get. When Vudu started their Disc to Digital program I was converting DVDs to the HDX format for $2.50 and Blu-rays for a dollar. As long as you have good internet service, streaming your movie collection is quite easy.

I currently have 4728 movies in HDX or UHD, and 203 TV series in the same formats. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely a phyical media person first and foremost, I've got over 10K titles on discs(and used to have almost 3500 VHS movies that I got rid of most almost three years ago), but the convenience of streaming has its benefits. What I really like is if I am a friends house, and they have a TV or Blu-ray player that can stream, I can log into my Vudu account through their device and we have close to 5k worth of movies to chose from. It's a lot easier than the old days when I would bring a binder that holds 256 discs and having to choose from that. Also with my Vudu account you can show a preview of the movie to help people decide what they want to watch.

I don't redeem my digital codes because I prefer the physical media.

Yes. It's part of the blu-ray when you buy it so might as well use it as a backup.

I'm a physical media only guy, so I sell off the digital code and it lowers my net cost of the movie, especially the 4Ks. Makes it a lot easier to justify the cost, and I'm using my hobby to basically finance itself.

I like having digital copies to watch while traveling or on the go.

If I am in the living room at home, obviously I am going with the physical disc.

I buy the physical media, and then give the digital code to my daughter or my niece.

I have never redeemed one. I am not even sure how it works or if it would be beneficial to me.

Signed,

Same thing I did in 2018, by the end of the year I began selling my discs.
