Sony hasn't been releasing any anime boxsets in the US lately. They released the first DVD boxset of Blood+ like two years ago and have yet to release the second, so I wouldn't count on them releasing anime boxsets on Blu-ray anytime soon.

Hope you still have your receipt. I noticed even the Blu-ray.com reviewer also reviewed a bad disc.

I may have missed it but did FUNimation release Higurashi on DVD already? I haven't kept up but that would be cool if it was released on BD.

Yes as a matter of fact they did(though it's just the original Geneon cases and artwork). But however I think the complete season 1 dvd boxset that's coming out soon though will actually will say that it's distributed by Funimation. They didn't change the discs like how they did when they brought Kanon(2006) volume 6 to finish off that series for the people who collected the single discs and just put in some Funimation trailers in it.

This reminds me someone needs to license season 2.

Well what Sony did was they released the whole part 1 boxset awhile back for Blood + which included the 1st 5 volumes I believe but also gave people a choice of single volumes as well but very slowly.

I think Blood + set comes with a manga and i think maybe a t-shirt and that's why it's so much. I don't think Vampire Knight anime has even come to America.

Vol 5 (the last disc of the Part 1 boxset) was supposed to come out in May, but in never did and probably never will.

Ah I was wondering about that because I knew there had to be some explanation on why there hasn't even been a mention of anything new for Blood + in quite awhile.

Please post any new Anime Blu-rays!

As for Sony releasing X'amd Blu-ray Boxset, I still think we have a good chance, Sony has been good to us with Anime and if Sword of the Stranger Blu-ray does well I think it would be common sense to release more works from Studio Bones.

Also, I went ahead and opened my Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise Blu-ray and have to say I am sooooooooo happy I did, WOW!!!

more please...

Wow, amazing an actual post about anime on blu ray. How novel.

Honnemaise - yes, better than any DVD, but I'm not too happy with the pillarboxing. At the premium prices I expect something better. But with anime on blu ray it is a case of beggars can't be choosers...

Origin: Spirit of the Past from FUNimation has been reviewed on blu-ray.com. I haven't received my copy yet, so can't comment.

We're awaiting for Blu-ray announcements this coming weekend from Anime Expo. So, we'll get a clearer idea if there will be a big push for anime on Blu and what plans the various companies have in terms of releases.

Oh...cool news from the LA Times, Miyazaki will be making his first appearance at SD Comic-Con.

Watched the Origin Blu-ray Twice Already, Loved every second of it. Thought the review was a little hard on it but I guess most Anime fans would have rated it higher....

Will be at Wizards Comic-Con in Chicago (since I live in OH)
