The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is on Blu-ray in Japan (like Escaflowne), so it's probably just a matter of time.

I worry about this because Kadokawa released it in Japan, and the last Bandai Blu-ray that wasn't owned by Bandai (GitS 2: Innocence) in Japan & US suffered as a result (BD25 and no lossless audio). I hope this does not turn out to be the case. At least there is hope with the rumored Manga UK Version.

Yeah, the Nov 17th date seems to be a solid one. Theyve stuck with it for a couple months now, and I think it's up on Funimation's site at that day too. yet we still cant order it on amazon....

On frank marshalls twitter he announced that the DVD of ponyo will be released in March and said nothing about a blu-ray release so hopefully we still get a release.

I stopped by my local Best Buy today, and the Escaflowne BD was $34.99. I'm sure they'll sell a lot at that price....

lol yeah I saw that online..Amazon was 22.99. Should be here today. Prime member so shipping is free.

Maybe Best Buy can't get good deals from Bandai? Sword of the Stranger and Akira are 34.99 there too. But yet Best Buys prices for Ghost in the Shell 2.0 and Blood the Last Vampire are the same as Amazons: 19.99.

EDIT: So I guess the rumors of Ghost in the Shell 2.0 and Blood the Last Vampire out a month early at Best Buy are true. I'll check later.

Back cover for GITS 2.0 says the audio is 6.1 DTS-ES and has a Dolby Digital logo? Hmm..I thought the JP release was TrueHD?

Yeah me too and besides March is my birthday month and I already have Gunslinger Girl season 1 to enjoy on my birthday so why not Ponyo on Blu-ray as well?

It could just be me but I think the Bandai Visual ones are always more expensive then the Bandai Entertainment Blu-rays when it comes to Best Buy.

Japanese Version is by Kadokawa JP (AVC/DTS-HD MA & TrueHD 5.1). US Version would be by Bandai.

If you recall, GitS Innocence was done by Buena Vista Japan and the Original and Absolute Editions were both BD50s with lossless soundtracks (Original - MPEG2/PCM 7.1, Absolute - AVC/TrueHD & DTS-HD MA 6.1). The Bandai US Version was BD25 AVC/DD 5.1 EX. My worry is that Bandai US releases TGWLTT, it will be on a BD25 and with a lossy track.

SotS and Escaflowne were both Bandai properties in Japan which is why they got the BD50/lossless audio treatment.

If Bandai does release GWLTT, I hope my worries are unfounded and they give it the treatment it deserves.

Kadokawa USA is what brought over TGWLTT, Lucky Star, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Full Metal Panic: TSR, Shuffle, and so on. Bandai and Funimation helped distribute these series to dvd and provided the English voice actors. This is why I think the dvd version of the digitally remastered of FMP:TSR was delayed because Funimation probably had to obtain the full rights if Kadokawa USA is no more. Bandai could possibly bring TGWLTT on Blu-ray in America but considering how Bandai USA is struggling to survive it makes me wonder if or when they will ever bring TGWLTT on Blu-ray at all. I would love for it to be lossless as well with the ton of extras the dvd version has but it will probably be a long while.

Best Buy had the BDs for both Ghost in the Shell 2.0 and Blood the Last Vampire (2000) on the shelf today. I thought these were due out Nov. 24th; maybe BB has an exclusive. They were $19.99 each.

It was confirmed on the AoD boards that the Ghost In the Shell 2.0 BD includes the original version of the film and both versions use the original English dub.

2.0 version:
1080p
English and Japanese: 6.1 DTS-ES Discrete, 2.0 PCM

Original version:
1080i
English and Japanese: 2.0 stereo (probably just Dolby Digital)

The original being 1080i might mean it's upscaled from SD masters. The Japanese BD of it is 1080p and also has the Japanese audio in 2.0 PCM, English is only 2.0 DD.

I only want the original version so I'm going to wait for screenshots of it to get posted before I decide if I'm going to buy this or not.
