Metro Goldwyn Mayer James Bond: The Ultimate Collection (1962-2012) + Volume Collections

The James Bond franchise is yet again getting a new line of repackaged collections. This time they'll be split based on the actor: Sean Connery Volume 1 & 2, Roger Moore Volume 1 & 2, Pierce Brosnan Collection, Daniel Craig Collection. Supplemental features will more than likely be recycled from past editions and it seems the only addition to these 6 sets are the UV redemption codes.

JBV1.jpgJBV2.jpgJBV3.jpgJBV4.jpgJBV5.jpg

There is also a new ULTIMATE edition listed as an Amazon exclusive that consists of the entire franchise of currently released films and it appears to include a new hardcover or paperback book. Oddly there's no mention of this complete collection including digital redemption codes. The release date is two months from today, 9/15.

I'm sure a formal press release will follow soon (hopefully) but figured get the discussions going now. The volume collections don't have a release date listed but I'd assume these will all drop on 9/15.

And if they really wanted to be all "ultimate" about it, they'd include Never Say Never Again and the '60s Casino Royale.

I know they're not considered official Bond canon and all, but as far as I know, Fox has the rights to both, and I don't know why they wouldn't be included if there are bucks to be made off of them.

Understand your logic, but as with most studios...their decisions rarely make sense lol. That being said, with "Spectre" opening this November you know this franchise will continue to be repackaged.

And I presume that because of the mention of 2015 on the third case, this set will have space for Spectre, just as the Bond 50 collection had a spot for Skyfall.

It would be make more sense, if they make new remastered discs of the newer Bond films like Goldeneye! New 4K transfers exist.

I'd assume that a space for "Spectre" bluray disc will be left vacant in that Amazon exclusive, yes. We shall see.

And again yes that would make sense, but alas when have studios made much sense when it comes to repackaging. This is what they do, new transfers probably won't happen until majority of the current stock is sold.

I will never buy a set for Bond until the franchise is finished, which will more than likely be never. I will stick with the individual releases for the foreseeable future.

I assume then that with these new actor collections, that means the best film of the series "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" gets left out?

Where's the Timothy Dalton double feature set?

Can't leave out the second best Bond after Connery.

I bought all of the pre-Skyfall James Bond Blu-rays individually on the same day that I bought my first Blu-ray player back in 2012. I lived within walking distance of Target, Best Buy, and Walmart, so I was able to get all of the 50th Anniversary discs in one day, since the three stores all had their respective exclusive movies at the time. All of those discs together cost me less than $200.

I like that Ultimate Edition package above, though, and I'd go with that over the existing box set any day of the week, since the discs all go into plastic cases. If I stumble across that set for under $50 at some point in years to come, I might grab it to have backup discs of my collection. Yes, I'm that big of a Bond fan.

The US are also getting a wave of 10 Steelbooks. 9 for individual films, and oen specifically for the Craig films apparently. The UK and Germany are getting most of these too (currently using their artwork below, but the US will be identical)

Purchase Links:

Casino Royale
Daniel Craig Collection
Diamonds are Forever
On Her Majesty's Service
For Your Eyes Only
From Russia with Love
Skyfall
Thunderball
Quantum of Solace
You Only Live Twice

Artwork:

(Supplementing with the Intenational artwork until US artwork is officially posted. Should be identical)

Those new set honestly are UGLY! I'd imagine they are the same exact discs repackaged. And I agree if they want it Ultimate include Never Say Never Again, and the original Casino Royal. Many will say NSNA doesn't belong but they now own it as their film, might as well release it.

Those are incredibly ugly steelbooks. It's like some guy well let's just throw one main color on each one with some tiny silhouettes and call it done.

Oh son of a *****!! No, I don't care about them repackaging them, it is that they are including a book about the movies with it that makes me mad.

They're all taken directly from the credit sequences. I like many of them

that book is probably a junk piece to be honest. Most books that come in these major releases are looked over once if that and never opened again. There are awesome Bond movie books out there more worthwhile rather than buy this ugly box

I only like this for the UV release which should have occurred with 50 Years of Bond...
