Arrow Which Free Xbox 360 Games with Gold do you want? Now extended indefinately!

I am sure you heard, two free Xbox 360 games on the 1st and 16th of each month until the end of the year. Each freebie is for two weeks only.

I know Major Nelson promised things like Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3. The first offering being "Defense Grid: The Awakening" which angered a lot of gold members.

Let me tell you, I downloaded it because it seemed rather interesting for a freebie and thought I could always delete it.
I - LOVE - DEFENSE - GRID. Aliens and weapons and stratagy makes for a game you really want to play and beat. This coming from a traditional shooter fan.

So, for all you complainers just stop. Firstly, we are consumers and are not entitled to anything free. Secondly, I think this was a great offering to whet our appetites. Thirdly, Assassin's Creed 2 is available. I have yet to try out this 5.2GB offering, though I did download it.

So which games do you want to see? Believe it or not, I want to see a disc game which was bundled with my xbox 360. PURE is an ATV racing and trick game. I originally did not like it for some reason. I have had that one achievement (out of fifty) staring in my avatar's face - which can not be deleted.

After more than a year, I popped in the disc again and find I really do enjoy PURE. The fifty achievements take some doing and are not impossible to acquire. So, yeah. I want PURE as a free download so as not to bother with the disc. I think some older games such as Defense Grid and PURE never get their day in the sun, and should be mixed in with the other top notch older titles we desire.

By the way, as of November 2012 the Xbox 360 takes 32GB flash drives. No preformatted drives are sold and finding one which works to specs is a crap shoot.

This one works. Picked mine up at Staples. I reserved 0.5 GB for PC use for some music I can't transfer to the XBOX. So, two sticks are replaced with one. "That was easy."

Actually Fable 3 was the first one during E3.

Followed by Defense Grid and now Assassin Creed 2.

Halo 3 will probably be the Aug 16th one and another arcade game will be Aug 1st one. I would love to see Forza or Gears for free. Even though I have everything that they have given us so far. Minus of course the free Arcade one.

But like you I'm not complaining and enjoy that they are giving us free games.

I want new games as in the day they are launched to retailers. $60/year for XBL should justify my request.

Reading the op left me with a question, you can use a memory stick to store the games? And play them off of there??

Depending on the size of your thumb drive I'm sure you can. On occasion I put my saved (check)points of the game on my flashdrive because the cloud doesn't always upload fast enough to either my downstairs or upstairs console.

Some games will not copy, but will move.

Which leads to my own question. How many times can I copy a free game (if any) for friends who may not have had the chance to d/l the free game? I don't know many people with an xbox to try this out. Maybe someone can test this scenario?

In any case, I didn't care for Assassin's Creed 2, so I am more than happy to 'move' it from my stick and give it to someone else. Otherwise, I'm deleting it once I need the room. Same for Crackdown.

I can not believe how much I love Defense Grid: The awakening.

Hmm I would assume as long as they are gold then it should work.

That being said the issue is since you DL'd to your profile then it in theory is locked to that profile. Not only that, if you DL'd on your friends console but had your profile on said console it is locked to those console id's and in order to be able to play would have to be connected to xbox live. In order to negate that when you got home you would have re DL the game and then do a license transfers in order to be able to play it "offline".

There really isn't a thread for any of this but they updated the UI for Netflix. It now has a black background with word Netflix in a red box at the top.

No wonder I can't play my tunes on Rock Band offline. For a few files here & there, a licence transfer ain't that big a deal.

5 years of collecting over 4000 Rock Band files on at least 3 separate consoles & not doing licence transfers because I thought that was what the transfer kit also did... Yeah my luck just ran out. So Live 4life! 4me.

For free game downloads, yes. Not a bad deal with the free offerings coming until the end of the year. Now would be a good time to renew, or sign up for Gold membership lest you miss out on more games.

Hey Microsoft, still waiting on the free version of PURE.
