Posting here to help encourage myself to keep it up. I've had a few lapses of buying right away instead of waiting, but I'm happy to say I've "only" spent $322 total through the first three months of 2022.
Through 2020 and most of 2021 I was spending more than that per month. I had a few purchases early on where I had free discounts or GC's to make it cheaper for me out of pocket, but it's accurate for totals. I wish I'd done a little better, but I can't deny the progress made over the last six months in changing my buying habits. My goal for the next three is to chill out on HK and Kung Fu movie blind buys. I'm finding those to be really hit or miss for me (over saturation maybe?). It wasn't until last year where I started looking at the average price per sku for my purchases compared to total spent overall but I had to go back and compute that for all my years and I feel like that has been the most interesting statistic of them all. 2021 really saw the prices shoot up across the board for me as my average price paid jumped nearly $4 per sku. Now, much of that has to do with there being fewer and fewer older releases which I still want/need and so as i purchase more and more new releases those prices will rise expectantly, but equally interesting is the fact that the boutique sales aren't as lavish as they once were either and so that too had raised my total spent across fewer movies.
Truth be told I was disappointed by last years average. I very much like ending the year with a $10 or less per sku average as it really drives home how good of a deal I was getting more often than not despite possibly spending more overall for the year. |

I used to have to keep a log for pre-ordering to make sure too many pre-orders didn’t come in a single month (especially One-Clicks). I planned to cut WAY back on everything but Disney/Marvel/Star Wars and just my absolute favorites but with Disney only providing 3D releases in Japan $90/pop) and the fact that I tend to buy multiple copies of my favorite movies (collecting packaging for me is nearly as important as the movie) so if I can’t pre-order I have to pay eBay prices for any Orr-order that I miss… I’m going to have to go back and look if I’ve saved as much as I have!

This year is shaping up to be my most expensive on record at this point. The multitude of cheap titles I felt the need to own has largely dried up for me and so what's left is often boutique stuff or titles that just never go down in price and so no matter what I buy I'm spending much more than I have in the past despite my efforts to spend around/under $200 each month.
