Also, I've read bits and pieces about variable refresh rates. But nothing about if that applies to films.

Hoping they do a good job with Total Recall since it's a childhood favorite. The old Basic Instinct blu was pretty weak and definitely can be improved as could Flash Gordon.

Flash Gordon should look amazing hopefully. The blu-ray was so colorful but they scrubbed the detail away.

Can't wait for Total Recall. I hope it finally ends up getting the release it deserves. I was never happy with any of the blu-rays. Hopefully it won't end up as harsh as Starship Troopers (I know it's a different studio).

I loved the Starship Troopers release. I totally get the criticism, but I really liked the way it looked (granted I've only seen it downscaled to 1080p SDR, but nonetheless).

As long as they don't completely botch Total Recall, I'll pretty much buy it no matter what. Been waiting for that one a while now.

Glad Serpico is getting a release. Given Apocalypse Now's release I'm hoping this leads more of a gamut of great 70s films becoming available. Been waiting for The Conversation for a while.

Basic Instinct !!! That’s the one that really needs the 4K restoration - and am getting The Elephant Man as well, the 4K trailer looks amazing!
Verhoeven and Lynch are my favorite directors

With this year being the 30th Anniversary of Total Recall and the film already scanned in at 4k resolution for the remastered edition (signed off on by Paul Verhoeven) this is one title we shouldn't worry about. Glad the PH got there first, unlike James Cameron and the T2 4k edition...

I hope that Paul is able to track the uncensored footage that the MPAA has banned and restore it in 4k

King Kong (1976) would be great.

What was cut out of the film that the MPAA found so objectionable? Total Recall is one of the most violent film's of that decade, hard to imagine what would be found OTT with what it already contains!

Several shots were simply showing too much blood and gore for the MPAA, so trims were made.

I always found it laughable when people complain that the MPAA labels certain sex scenes NC-17 "and find *insert violence here* ok" when there have been plenty of films initially slapped with a "X" or "NC-17" rating for violence.

It's all Warren Beattys fault (shakes fist).

It would be funny if after 15 years waiting for a damn BD release it went straight to UHD. Ditto The Abyss and True Lies.

I’d put Panic Room on that list too!

Cronenberg’s Crash seems to be going that way!

Mostly the corpse as human shield, Richter's nerdy henchman getting his guts stabbed up and Benny getting drilled, might have been a couple of other trims as well. Just a shame that of all Verhoeven's US films, it's the only one that's never been restored to the original cut.

Watching Basic Instinct right now for the first time. An hour in. It looks bad. Barely any grain and the whole thing is blurry and has pasty colors. I'm liking the story, soundtrack and visuals, though. Would probably get the 4K. Why is it so hard to find information about DTS-HD HRA? Is this 6.1 track like a perfect replica of the original soundtrack or what? If so, I wonder if there's any chance of the 4K having it.

DTS-HD High Res is lossy audio, just with less compression than regular DTS.

Oh. Yeah, I can't even tell the difference between DTS and DTS-HD MA.
