It's kind of annoying that I can't find this in a best buy, I'm hoping to find one with a slipcover

Best Buy never stocked Superman 4k in their stores, it was only available online.

I bought my copy in a local Best Buy, saw it at other locations.

Anyway, does anyone know if the BD disc (not the 4K disc) is the new master or not? Of the kind that might not work in in certain BD players? I'm asking for someone else, not myself, all I know is he said the disc plays for a while but then freezes.

Unfortunately, the BD is the same disc from before and does NOT have the new 4K master.

Fortunately the BD is not based on the 4k master.
The colour is lousy on the 4k, in my view but no one seems to agree with me.

I was really excited to get this but ultimately disappointed 😥

The colour timing is way better on the UHD.

For the blue suit, yes, but I would argue that the 4K master is a huge downgrade (color wise) for the Krypton scenes. Something about those white suits makes faces and other details on Krypton too dark IMO.

I think they went a bit too far with the HDR grading on the Krypton scenes but the rest of the movie looks fine to me.

Now it's time for a Superman II 4K release. Forget about III and IV.

Iíd still want III too. It has its moments.

Besides the two versions of II, Iím also anxious for Superman Returns just to hopefully get a really good transfer.

I would like the original Superman II as well a the Richard Donner cut. The Richard Donner cut is superior in my eyes, because we have seamless branching so I want to both cuts done in 4K.

I’m too lazy to look it up, but aren’t the theatrical and Donner cuts different aspect ratios, thus making branching impossible?

I'd love a remaster of the extended Superman III. OK, it's a fairly crass comedy which typified the broad humour Richard Lester brought to the series, but the movie at least plays better in this form. And Robert Vaughn is hilarious.

Same ratio. The DC only exists as HD digital video, so it would have to be rebuilt in 4K.
