Also had some goodies to show off while there. Sixth Day is super rare and those Muse discs are way overpriced but just really nice.

It's a great player. I have two. One modified for AC-3 from (gasp) Duncan Hunter back when he was a legit Pioneer LD repairman, and the other one is stock.

How does one modify their LD player to support AC-3 and AC-3 demodulators? I have a Pioneer CLD-2080 for reference.

That's awesome! Yeah so far I'm really glad I decided to get it. It is so heavy though. The guy made a joke that no one would ever want to steal it lol and he is so right.

It doesn't have AC-3 but he can do the mod for me if I want. He's working on doing the AC-3 upgrade on a CLD-97 right now.

Duncan Hunter....yikes... The horror stories I've heard about that guy. At least you got your player back from him before he went rogue.

Would love to get my broken CLD-97 working again as an excuse to watch some LDs.

Contact Kurtis Bahr.

You'll have to ship him your player (he lives in VA the last time I checked), but he knows what he's doing with most/all Pioneer players, and he specializes in ELITE players (like your CLD-97).

There are only two guys I trust with LD repair. One in VA and the other in MI. That's about it. It was nice when I could rely on Duncan (in WA). It's a pity that he decided to just say "eff it" and keep everyone's player.

To be fair he wife dying was a major factor. Since she kept him sober. That's what kurtis told me.

Very familiar with him. I kind of regret not sending him the player about a decade ago when shipping was much cheaper and parts were more available/cheaper to obtain. Hardly ever watch LD anymore since there are so many blus to catch up on but it's definitely a fun nostalgia.

I didn't know this, but anything's possible as to why he decided to do what he did.

Decided to get some Looney Tunes on LD, since it's just about the same price as collecting them on DVD/BD and it's pretty much the only way to get a near complete set. I'm not too concerned with quality so I figure what the hey. Got a copy of the first Golden Age set and it's pretty nice, except for a few little cuts (like the incomplete "Castles" or "I Love to Singa" missing its original title card).

True but wait until you try for volumes 3 and 4 where price and rarity goes up to usually 50-75 per set...and then the ever elusive box 5 that is crazy rare and will set you back hundreds of dollars....

Anyone know if the extras from the Apollo 13 signature edition laser are all on the blu-ray? I can't be sure just from the description.

I'm not worried. I'll just wait until I hit on the scratch-offs for that one.

Now that it arrived and is not too good to be true, I can share that I snagged a near mint copy of Vol 3 for 25 bucks. Just have to work on those other dodo birds.

I've done it, sort of. I have the first four sets, and it only cost me an average of 34.50 a volume. Maybe it could have been done cheaper, but I'm in the middle of nowhere and have to rely on the internet for everything. I did pick up the extra "Curtain Calls" disc as well because it has a few of my favorites on it.

I have all 5 of The Golden Age Of Looney Tunes laserdisc sets and I have them all backed up to DVD media. They are great sets.
