LOL what?
I've used OLED for four years now and never seen any hint of uniformity issues based on watching movies in certain aspect ratio.
While I do prefer a fullscreen presentation (widescreen is for cinema) it's not because I worry about black bars ruining my display's uniformity.

Here’s me sitting at over three years and nearly 8,000-hours of usage. Probably 90% of that content being ‘widescreen’ content.

No uniformity issues whatsoever.

Some of you will come up with the dumbest stuff to post on this forum.

I have burn in from news logos which is my fault sure. I took steps to prevent it from happening again.

For the black bars it's not my fault. I watch a lot of movies, half of which have black bars half of which don't (approx). There's nothing I could have done to prevent this.

TheSweetieMan I don't know why you think I'm just randomly making this up but I am not. I even posted about it last week.

Thankfully the 3D forum didn't attack me!

I didn't even know about that menu but I checked and I'm at 14357, a little less than double you. Maybe this helps explain it.

Edit: subtract about 3000 to 4000 because I had to to start leaving it on 24/7 (on a pure black screen when not in use) about 6 months ago when the menus started going funky on me after a cold boot.

That's a lot of hours! How many years have you had it for? Even at 5 years, that's averaging 7.87 hours a day!

I think you were typing when I did an edit, but subtract 3000-4000. But yes still a lot. I watch 3 movies a day plus news (in B&W).

You leave it on 24/7?
How is your display supposed to do its compensation cycles now?

The alternative is to plug and unplug it 10+ times every so often when the menu system keeps freezing on boot. Maybe it would have broken completely by now. I'd be really really happy to get a new TV believe me, but they don't manufacture 3D panels anymore. I don't think compensation cycles would have prevented this, but even if they would have, it still happened.

Just read this site's review of the Double Tap UHD and the reviewer mentions the movie was finished at 2K, but I'm pretty sure this is inaccurate. The IMDb page the reviewer sources actually used to say the film was completed on a 4K DI. I remember looking it up when I saw the Double Tap clip on the UHD for the first movie. The difference in picture quality between the two films was pretty substantial and I remember thinking it's too bad the first one wasn't also finished at 4K. Anyway, who knows how accurate the IMDb technical specs page ever is but considering how great the Double Tap UHD looks I would be very surprised if it isn't a native 4K image. Upscaled 4K releases almost never receive a full five-star video score on this site.

Laugh all you want but this literally happened with my Pioneer plasma. As said upthread, it's not that the letterbox bars THEMSELVES get burned in but it's the uneven wear of the active and non-active pixels that can cause a 'letterbox' type of retention. I get that people watch all sorts of content, play games, all that other shit on their TVs but my main TV is for movies, movies and more movies.

IMDB says 2K digital intermediate. Either way, IMDB is not an accurate source for such info. Hell, the technical specs page for this movie currently has pearls of user-generated wisdom like "Sound Mix - Dolby Atmos | Dolby Digital (Dolby Amots+Vision)" (sic)

emailking1 has mentioned repeatedly that his set has 3D, which means it's a 6 series (2016) at the latest. That means he's owned his OLED for longer and racked up more hours by virtue of it being an older model than the ones those who doubt his claims own, and there have been improvements made since that have supposedly extended the "time before uneven wear/burn-in happens" on more recent panels anyway.

Heh, even with games this particular problem can arise. When you like them old school, as I do, then most of those oldies are in the 4:3 ratio. So then it just adds to that issue.

Yes, but the page USED to say 4K digital intermediate. Someone edited the page (and misspelled Atmos while they were at it).

I'm more inclined to believe 2K though. The reason for the improved image quality in Double Tap is simply that they used much better cameras for shooting it - the first one was entirely shot and finished in 2K, so it was more limited from the start.

Regarding the burn-in or uneven wear, it's not unheard of. Not sure why people still think that people are making this shit up. I think some people blow it more out of proportion than they need to, but it's still not made up. I don't have that problem on my C6, but I know that it can happen. But my viewing content changes pretty rapidly between, standard television/news, movies, streaming shows, and video games, so that's why it doesn't happen to me.

What people are also not considering is TV settings. It's still undetermined for email king's case, but having it calibrated to industry standard or at least trying to get it close or mimic industry standards will help; maybe even help dramatically. Even if the set is not set to torch mode, having a brighter setting in general will also cause for faster wear too.

Back to Zombieland 2, I finished watching my copy last night and loved it just as much as when I saw it in theaters. I find the interactions between each of the characters hilarious and then the doppelgangers just even more of a hoot. I also loved that the film doesn't take itself too seriously, even making fun of itself or the original, at times.

I have a 2016 C6 and I only have about 6500 hours on it. I do not have any issues with uneven wear in the bars and I also game with an Xbox One X. I do take care to not leave on static content if it's not required, shut if off when it's not being used and let it do it's comp cycles when needed. I also keep OLED light at 100 when using HDR and Auto on SDR so I am not babying it.

I'm on my 3rd OLED and I have two that I actively use (one for movies and one for PC gaming). Never had burn-in issues but I don't refute their existence. I take particular care on my panel that's connected to my PC to avoid burn-in, especially from my desktop icons. I literally never watch network or cable TV so I don't ever worry about those issues on my other set. Definitely would not surprise me to see these issues cropping up more on more on 2016 sets but hopefully it will become less of a problem over time with each new model.

Hours upon hours of gaming and movie content over three years and the only thing I try not to do, is fall asleep with BBC News on.
