Always looked good to me, I think it just boils down to whether or not you like the cinematography. The disc itself is fine. (I know some have pointed out macroblocking, but I've never noticed it.)

The uhd looks great, except for the grayish starfields, which right out of the gate is noticeable. Colors are lovely.

Looks good to me. Not demo worthy, but the image is sharp and there are a few great looking scenes that really shine in 4k

The moment when Anthony Daniels approaches Johnson to say something off-color about someone, and then immediately backtracks when he realizes that Johnson is mic'd up, certainly bears out some of the stuff that has been said about him as a person over the years.

I don't remember that at all. I'll have to rewatch it to see that.

In this particular case the anti-HDR HDR grade is ENTIRELY on the director and the DP as they are not fans of HDR. At all. Boy I'd love to see a heatmap of this one!

According to Amazon Germany, The Last Jedi will get a 4K re-release with the new cover layout together with the other titles. I know it says temporary cover on the artwork, but I suppose they got their info somewhere.

That's good to hear. I want TFA and TLJ to match (and the OT if I ever decide to buy it).

As France, Germany and the Nordic countries all have announced the 4K re-release of this title with the new cover layout, I find it hard to believe that it will not be re-released in the States.

Back cover of the Nordic release.

Oh weird, this one says Meet the Porgs is on here. So they ported it over?

Unless I'm missing it, I don't see a DolbyVision logo on that Nordic back cover. Ya wouldn't think they'd go back and re-author LAST JEDI without DV just to match all the others...?

That back cover indicates that they've pressed a new movie BD with the score-only track. They've apparently also pressed a new bonus BD to add the Porg featurette.

Wouldn't shock me if they pressed a new UHD without DV.

It also wouldn't shock me if I just kept the original UHD if that's the case.

Looking at the back cover of the "old" Nordic release, it doesn't have any DV logo either. Neither does the UK release.

Don't worry. Disney won't bother with creating a new version without DV. They're all about reissuing the same disc.

I'm the only idiot on these boards who'd actually be ROOTING for a re-issue without the DV, lol. I'm still watching my UHDs on a 1080p projector (which looks so incredibly filmlike to me, I can't bring myself to change), and DolbyVision doesn't down-convert to 1080p at 24fps... but HDR10 alone does. So let's just say I won't be disappointed if they've made all the Saga films match.

I have a feeling that none of the discs will be identical reissues.

The first nordic UHD release of The Last Jedi did not have the nordic subtitles on the UHD disc but this do. We still don't know if it will have Dolby Vision or not but judging by the cover this is a new disc.
