Universal? This will be a tossup on quality, won't it?

The reaction to Forrest Gump was so bad that the number of people with the movie in their collections (so either a preorder or a want-to-buy) actually dropped from last week to this week.

I have the 35mm in hand, it's just a bit more red.

JP was never handled with care. Schindler's List however got the proper treatment few years ago, based on 6K scans.

Of course a month after buying the Blu Ray, they announce the 4K version lol. Hopefully this starts a trend of more catalog b&w films in 4K.

Yeah, this film is regarded as too important to be mishandled. Doesn't Universal also own the rights to The Pianist?

That has more chance of being another DNR hack job than this (if they ever release it on Blu)

Just rewatched this last week. The three hours go by in no time at all. Despite being a depressing film its also very entertaining. One of my favorites.

I watched the BD a couple of weeks ago and it looked great upscaled. I don't see the need to spend the money on another marginal upgrade. I'll leave it for those with more money than I have.

Gladiator also got a 4K workup from a 6K scan a few years back which was repurposed for the UHD, and Uni still couldn't resist tinkering with it.

I know. But I mean It won't be an effortless master like JP1 & JP3. There's a high quality source for Schindler; how Universal handles it for the UHD is indeed something to fear for.

Very amused that for some reason the 1992-1995 Best Picture winners are all going to be on UHD, when there's not even another two-in-a-row run available until 2016/7's winners.

I'm confused. Doesn't Paramount own the rights to Gladiator? If so, wouldn't they be the ones doing the 4k transfer and not Universal?

Ok. That makes a bit more sense now. Still, wouldn't the transfer be the same across the board? Or did Universal do a separate transfer all their own?

I think it was already said that the first black and white film on 4k UHD was Logan.

I think I have to buy this movie on 4K just because the title contains my surname.
