Went into this with low expectations and actually thought it was pretty decent, though I found myself really wishing that I cared more for the characters. I think this could have been a great movie if they had handled this franchise in a different way and the big moments felt earned. Still, I thought it was fun and it looked great. The audio was particularly impressive. Even at low volumes this was one of the harder hitting Atmos mixes I’ve heard this year.

I doubt Disney puts much focus on these films for a long while, so who knows how likely a complete set is.

I was close to buying this at a discount on Black Friday but even then I really couldn't be arsed. It just seems pointless to own since 1) it wasn't that great of a movie and 2) the MCU is going reboot the X-Men anyway. If it was a great movie I would've gotten it despite the MCU rebooting X-Men, but Logan was a much better finale of Fox's X-Men and I'm fine with just owning that.

If one day this is on discount for $10 I might get it then. Doesn't seem worth more than that.

I liked it more than Apocalypse and therefore it's a better end for the prequel characters for me. Pure quality wise though, the best ending is DoFP into Logan for sure.

This might be why Iím ok with Dark Phoenix not being the best in the franchise. We have two great endings (chronologically as well), as you said, in DOFP & Logan.

I think it was discounted on Black Friday for $12.99. That's pretty darn close to $10. you couldn't fork over 3 extra bucks?

I just finished watching this 4K disc. I really liked the movie. The audio was terrific. The 4K video was also good - but I wish the Dolby Video encoding had made it all the way to the disc instead being torpedoed by Fox. I expect Dolby Vision would have improved the video presentation. My Vizio PQ65 apparently now supports HDR10+ via the most recently firmware update, but my LG player does not and my Onkyo receiver would not pass it to the TV.

That is what I paid on Black Friday, and for a blind buy I thought it was well worth it. I skipped this in the theater and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this.

Got this for Christmas. Very happy with the picture and sound. Also, enjoyed it more the 2nd time around (saw it once in theaters).

A lot of the time they're recorded right around release, as part of the press tour and whatnot. You often hear directors say that during commentaries. Haven't listened to this one yet though.

It's a better movie than it's given credit for by a wide margin, so hopefully it's not a 2 hour long pity party.

Specs are in the database. AFAIK there is only one 4K disc pressed for all regions for this one.

Really sad to see this series go. It's easily my favorite superhero franchise from the past decade. It was the only one that wasn't beholden to building a universe. Also, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique as a character is extremely underrated. Dare I say she's one of, if not the, best female character I've seen in a superhero franchise (I'm mainly referring to her in First Class-Apocalypse). I'm hard pressed to think of another female character that is this well developed, and has compelling arcs in each film culminating in a big arc across the series.

EDIT: Say what you will about Dark Phoenix but I thought the effects were robbed of an Oscar nomination. It has some of the best hair effects I've ever seen. Definitely better than what was in Aquaman.

Good hair fx just weren't enough to save this movie sadly. It's a shame because that hair was really well done....
