I will buy this, but only when the set is available. Despite Disney+ I still want to have a physical 4K copy of every Star Wars Saga Episode.

That is a good point though, that they're still going to have a window between new movies being available to purchase on digital & disc and them being available on their a la carte monthly-payment service. It's only when the revenues from the former shrink to unsustainable levels (which for Disnee means that even a modest profit ain't gonna cut it) that they'll cut the cord. I take it back Vangeli, you and Filmmaker keep buying all the Disnee tat that you can!! The end is not nigh just yet, sorry for going all Steedeel there.

Yeah, but that's been true for me for awhile. It's certainly not because of streaming services. Except for movies with STAR WARS or HALLOWEEN in the title, I've PRETTY much been a "catalog collector only" for the better part of a decade. TREE OF LIFE is the last "new movie" (lol, eight years old) in my Top Tier collection. But I'll keep scoopin' up those catalog titles as long as there's breath in my lungs.

Stoopid clouds.

But back on topic: the UHD of RISE is Day One for me. I simply won't be able to wait for the boxed set. I can rationalize it and intellectualize it and see how it makes perfect sense to wait... but nope: Day One.

I'll never rely on someone else's server for my must own movies. I guess some people are becoming more gullible.

YES!!! Especially considering the bugs Disney+ seems to have since it's launch. You'd think with all this time before launch they could've gotten rid of SOME of the bugs. Bugs are to be expected with a new launch of tech product, but this one's got more bugs than a 2 dollar hooker.

3. Eventually Disney will release their 9-film UHD box set.
Hate to break this to you, but you don't own anything. It's more of a lease type deal. If Disney decides to remove any content from their streaming service you lose all your content. Or if their servers go down for whatever reason you also lose all of your content. The thing with physical product is once you buy it, its yours and won't go anywhere unless you sell it or its stolen. Or at the extreme the house burns down. Things I've bought close to 25 years ago I still own and will always unless I decided to sell, which I won't

I haven't bought a "modern movie" without STAR WARS or HALLOWEEN in the title for a long, long time. Last two discs were Criterion's MATEWAN and the UK import of John Cassavetes' SHADOWS. Hopefully discs like that will keep trickling out.. but RISE is it for new flicks. Modern movies (that don't have STAR WARS or HALLOWEEN in the title) don't hold any repeat value for me. You kids get off my lawn.
I do agree with you about new movies for the most part, but I still buy on physical media. I don't do streaming and avoid it like the plague. Despite my temptation of joining Disney+.

The thing is, my parents will get mad at me for buying a disc as theyíll tell me ďstop wasting money; just wait for it to be on Disney+!l

Even with all of the bad changes made to the OT over the years, you still want it?

Imagine if Disney releases the original versions of the OT on 4K disc and takes out all of the Lucas alterations.

I'm normally as against sailing the high seas as anyone in America can be. However in the case of a man and now a studio both refusing to sell me the version of the movie I grew up with, and mocking me for wanting it, let's just say I don't feel any deep moral crisis over procuring them another way.
