That was tongue in cheek, if in response to me.

Even so, it's worth stating for those who are short on brain cells.

Considering the way they shot the film in the super 16 mode on the Alexa which gives it a pleasant noise (on purpose) that is more film like, I can't imagine how the IMAX enhanced DMR crap is not going to seriously mess with the look.

The epic space battle scenes in the Land of Make-Believe should look really stunning in 4K HDR!

On the flipside, if it still looks plenty good and 'grainy' then it'll be confirmation that they're not actually doing anything to the picture and that this really is just a gimmick designed to put a sticker on the front and shift a few more copies.

actually Sony did both a DTS-X pass AND a Dolby Atmos pass for streaming - I honestly don't recall the mix being all that showy in the first place - but, eh whatevs

I just watched this on my Apple TV 4K in Dolby Vision -- the PQ is not going to knock your socks off, especially those moments in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe that were filmed in the low-def style of the period. But I thought it worked well for the movie and how it was shot.

As for the film itself, it's very melancholy and not full of cheap sentiment, which is refreshing. Matthew Rhys is great, and Tom Hanks brought a quality to Mr. Rogers that was simply magical to watch. The film is first rate, just like Marielle Heller's Can You Ever Forgive Me?

I've heard the movie looks rather dull with mirky blacks. Is that true?

I love it that this got given a 4K master and is 'IMAX Enhanced' despite them shooting it on 16mm and on the Alexa in 16mm mode (so it topped out at 1080p capture at best), so some people will buy it expecting to be dazzled as it's a "real 4K master" and come away very disappointed as numbers and marketing tags don't tell you everything. Who knew?

At least they're being honest that this is a limited, channel-based immersive mix.

If anyone wants info on how it was shot. They found similar Television cameras to the ones they used for the show.
