Charlie's Angels was a huge bomb, but only cost $48 million to produce. Cats budget is around $100 million and if it makes that back, I'd be surprised.

That's definitely a box office flop.

I doubt it will go to Netflix. Uni will need it to launch Peacock.

If it's successful, we could have a sequel. Star Wars Cats Episode II: Attack of the Cats.

Yessir. With lines like:

"When you think Tim McGraw
I hope you think of me"

I'm sure she is going to be remembered 20 years down the road. Dude, a fifth-grader has more talent. The girl cannot sing, cannot write, plays mediocrely, and has the stage presence of a wet noodle. She connects with her fans on some level. AND? Tori Amos does the exact same thing but on a much bigger level. She actually meets with as many fans as she can before her shows.

So do Edie Brickell and New Bohemians (the bandmembers have actually been on their own message boards before). Heck, if I remember correctly, Natalie Merchant used to stay after her shows and talk to every single person back when she was in 10,000 Maniacs. What Taylor Swift's done is nothing that hasn't been done better by countless other more talented people. She just got lucky.

Tally Poppy syndrome. Not a huge T Swift fan, but she's an incredible performer. The whole package.

Tori Amos? Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time.

If her name was Tori Atmos she'd have a lot more fans overnight.

Guess I'll have to get dragged along to see it then, as a Christmas movie (although it's not about Christmas, it's a family musical, and there are no other theatrical alternatives). Hopefully the trailer didn't do it justice.

It's actually Tall Poppy Syndrome. And no, she is not superior to anyone. Nor is she the "WHOLE" package. She's not even 1/3 of the package. Incredible is not a word that can be used to describe her as a performer or anything really. Except maybe human being. But that's a stretch. I just don't find anything about her musically that makes me stand up and take notice. She is manufactured pop, of which I don't like.

Taylor Swift lost what made her stand out when she left country music. Whether you are a fan of country or not, she definitely stood out in the genre and made a name for herself.

I agree, she's just another auto-tuned, top 40, popstar nowadays.

It's called counter-programming.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of musical films (Mamma Mia, Hairspray, Rocketman, etc.) but this just doesn't appeal to me at all. In fact this kind of falls into the uncanny valley for me lol

I unironically want to see this out of morbid curiosity. Plus I love kitties.

I think they should have marketed this differently. The promotional stuff (posters, trailers, billboards, etc.) all should have had in there something to the effect of this:

CATS. Come take a CAT nap on us.

*"I do not see plays, because I can nap at home for free."

Or maybe have done a promotion where every cat owner gets a free can of cat food with every ticket purchase. They could partner with PetSmart even.

The reviews are in over here in the UK.

Appears to be a strange divide. Some reviewers are giving it one star. Others are giving it no stars.

It'll be interesting to see who's right.

To be fair, the Daily Mail gave it 4 stars/5.

But then again, to be fair, that's the Daily Mail.

The sort of film that puts 4K into perspective. Would you rather have this in 16K, or The Godfather on VHS?

I am expecting this movie to be on the discount rack, once it releases.

Movies usually take longer to get a discount the harder they bomb though. Almost like they think they will get their money back quicker if they sell more at full price.
