Disney Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi 4K UHD (1983)

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi 4K UHD (1983)

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi 4K UHD (1983) now listed on HDMoviesource. UPC 786936869453. Tentative release date March 31 2020. I know that this release has been discussed in the Skywalker Saga thread, but I think it should get its own thread to easier follow up on things specific to this title.

My favorite SW movie. People can say ESB is better all they want, but I have always liked this better. Doesnt look too bad on Disney+ so I'm hopeful for the disc.

I had such high hopes that Disney would be fan-friendly and bring out the theatricals since Lucas was no longer involved.

I'll buy them just to have them in 4K but the Despecialized editions will be my preferred way to watch them still. Maybe Harmy will be crazy enough to do another version based on the UHDs.

I wouldn’t be surprised if burying the Theatricals was in Lucas’ contract.

The Atmos tracks, as presented via Disney+ in lossy form, are of the fair to average type, if not downright disappointing. Star Wars screams for impressive Atmos mixing. That did not happen here.

I won't get into the fact that they're still not the theatrical versions.

And yet, I would gladly buy a release with BOTH versions on TWO discs of the OG version with original soundtrack and sound design, and 2nd disc can be the Special edition and Atmouse (te he). smsh

All hail Lord Lucas. The moolah would roll in.

Am I the only one who actually likes the "NOOOOOOO!!" in ROTJ? I grew up on the movie. IT was my favorite as a kid. So I should be made about its addition. Yet I'm not. I think it ties the 6 movies together nicely.

If Lucas shat on a pane of glass you'd still be calling it genius.

Nope. I always thought it was weird Vader didn't say anything there and it was a good emotion imo. I loved it.

I like the first “no” only. Still can’t stand seeing Hayden replace Shaw at the end.

Wait, hold on there. You can plainly see between Vader looking back and forth between Luke and Palpatine that he's trying to determine what he values more: His son or his master. You could easily tell and he was wearing a mask. We didn't need a "No. No!!!!!" there because it takes the viewer out of the emotional moment where Vader becomes Anakin and decides to tackle Palpatine.
