Someone got it. I just didn’t word it properly last night. Should’ve said well known director.

Well I disagree in every way, but respect your opinion. It's definitely trying to be an "arty" movie, but so are most... well, arty movies. I think every image and scene is like a painting, which to me is amazing and enthralling, but not everyone digs the same stuff.

I doubt it'd happen, but I'd love for it to be 12 Monkeys.

That would be outstanding, but Arrow has dibs. Great for extras; lousy for anyone who wants to see the movie in UHD. Maybe it’ll be a Waterworld scenario where Universal releases the UHD BD themselves, though.

You could say this about a lot of older super-acclaimed films as well

I bought the Arrow release a while back and it's an outstanding package all around in every other aspect, money well spent. Still, a 4K release would be excellent. Waterworld was actually what I had in mind though, since that happened, I wonder if UHD rights for the films Uni licensed to Arrow stayed with them, allowing them to later do 4ks like in the case of Waterworld. From there, they could have then theoretically sold 4k rights to Kino.

I’d expect that whatever Kino is releasing on Ultra HD Blu-ray, they’d also be releasing on Blu-ray. But anything’s possible, I suppose.

*Only one of these will be a UHD*

I asked when could we expect the Uni 4k announcement and KLI responded:

Please make sure people note that there aren't 7 4K titles coming out. That's what I thought when I read your post.

Arrow releases are way too expensive. I don't care about extras, I just want strong PQ and to not spent 25 dollars on decade old films.

Then find another hobby. Or just collect digital copies.

Children of Men is with Criterion, sitting somewhere on a shelf with Sixteen Candles.

The Brian De Palma film? I'm one of the few that actually love that film. There's a 3 hour cut?

Yep, De Palma's cut ran 3 hours, but the producers cut it down to 2. Elroy saw the 3 hour cut and said it's better and more faithful to his novel.

Yes, it seems to fit KLI’s clues re auteur and 2000s film. It also seems within KL’s wheelhouse genre wise and they have the opportunity of giving us De Palma’s original cut (which Elroy also approves of).

The mystery Uni title is confirmed to be a new master at least:

Consider the effort that Arrow and other labels puts into each of their releases: restoring films, producing engaging supplements, and creating compelling artwork and booklets. Sometimes you get what you pay for in life.

I know you’re not an extras fan but to simply say these releases are too expensive is a discredit to what these labels are actually doing behind the scenes.
