Default Rental copy's?

Hi, just have a question regarding rental copy's of movies.

What is the policy for adding Rental titles as "versions" in the database?

Store: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Blade...lu-ray/174044/
Rental: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Blade...lu-ray/252600/

These two above are identical, apart from the EAN code and the cover which says Rental on the Rental copy (doh!).

Wouldn't it be better to have some kind of tag for users to use when they have a rental version of a movie. Otherwise we'd end up with endless amount of entry's?

I personally type Rental in the Comment field when I add a movie to my collection which I have a rental version of.

Just my thoughts.

Personally, I am a bit OCD with my collection. I always want the exact version to be added to my collection. The reason being, I want to see accurate information in my collection. That way I can tell if my version of a movie may have a specific special feature, or something similar to that.

I am not going to deny that I haven't been guilty of adding a different version of a blu-ray to my collection, because I didn't want to add the rental version in my collection.

Ultimately, I think it maybe your personal choice how you wish to add titles to your collection. I know some people are like me and will want to take the time to add the rental version to the database so that they can have accurate films in their collection.

Hope this helps.

I agree with you mostly and understand. Regarding different versions I 100% agree. My example above was acase if equal content.

I do think however it would be nice with som "tick box" function to easy sort out Rentals.

Cheers

Yes, I agree, but in my example above there is no way to see that it is a rental, except for looking at the cover. Hence my suggestion with the tick box.

As it is now it is easy to misinterpret the rental as an accidental dublicate imo. It is also impossible to get a useful search result for rental copys from the database due to the lack of cohesive tagging of rentals.

Obviously my question still stands regarding if there is any policy for adding rental copys to the database.

But I guess the answer is simple "none".

It's good to put "Rental" or "Rental Copy" in parentheses after the title. This will clearly mark the entry as a rental version and have it display when you search the term rental.

I did this to the example that you posted.

I'm not aware of a policy against it. In addition to the rental banner on the artwork, each release has a different EAN.
