Default "CSI" Event Series Eyed at CBS

"CSI" Event Series Eyed at CBS; Original Cast Members may Return
by Nellie Andreeva
February 10, 2020

One of televisionís biggest drama series franchises is plotting a comeback. I hear CBS is mulling a "CSI" event series to mark the 20th anniversary of the original seriesí October 2000 premiere.

The idea is for new installment, from writer Jason Tracey (Elementary), CBS TV Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer TV, to be set in Las Vegas and be a sequel to the mothership "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", sources said.

The hope is that the new incarnation would feature original cast members. I hear William Petersen and Jorja Fox have been approached, but no formal offers have been made.

Sources stress that no deals for the potential revival are done, and that the project is still in early stages and may not come together within a reasonable financial framework.

Reps for CBS and CBS TV Studios declined comment.

Did Peterson ever really do anything after leaving CSI?

Mostly stage work it seems.

In more recent years he appeared in the 2012 film Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and on TV was in the short-lived WGN America series "Manhattan" in 2015.

Didn't he just go to the other side of the camera??

I thought he produced, directed or wrote (I don't remember which) a bunch of episodes after he "left" the cast

I'd love to see Caruso and Sinise brought back in some capacity

I still recall that very brief period where Gary Sinise was almost a leading man/ movie star.

Now this is an event series worth its time. Considering it may not be all that difficult to make this an All-Star one with the leads from the various spin offs being part of the story, while Grissom leads the charge!
