Default Rate Halloween II (2009)

Rate this movie from 1 to 10. Doesn't matter if you prefer the theatrical or director's cut.

I think people hate it because it is different, and then say it is bad.
RZ created something special and it totally works for me. I'd rate it 10/10.

Same here. I love this movie to death since day one. Both cuts actually. Imo the 2nd best entry in the series. Only Carpenter's Halloween is better. 10/10.

As I've written before, it's one of the most emotionally harrowing films about trauma and loss I've ever seen. A rare 10/10 from me.

One of the biggest turds ever released. A good example of shoe horning your wife into a movie can be really stupid sometimes.

5.

But that might even be a little high for my scoring scale.

However, I do think this film has some of Zombie's most ambitious ideas as a horror filmmaker, but the execution is a classic example of "It doesn't really work, but I respect the creative ambitions it's trying to take" mantra.

>The dialogue is always trashy and unrealistic.

>The acting is average to downright awful. Particularly from the lead, Scout Taylor-Compton. Which kinda sucks to say because I remember being a fan of hers back in the mid-2000s.

>The flashbacks and imagery depicting Michael's mom felt more like an excuse for Zombie to keep casting his wife, who is a terrible actor, rather than actually serving any meaningful purpose to the film's narrative.

>The pacing is a bit all over the place with all the different elements it's attempting to juggle.

However, with that being said there are things I liked:

>The score is fantastic

>I wasn't put off by the Hobo-Michael Myers aesthetic, oddly enough.

>Contains some of the best visual moments of Zombie's film career so far.

>The kills are brutal, nasty, and downright relentless.

>I LOVE the sequence of Laurie escaping the hospital, and having to climb all over those corpses and body parts. That was some really crazy shit, and Zombie directs the hell out of that sequence with extreme confidence.

The sum of the film, though, just feels like a collection of what represents Zombie at both his best and his worst, which is why I can't see this pulling in any direction other than a middle of the road 5.

2 out of 10 and that is because the only good thing about this movie is the gory kills which I admit are pretty satisfying & kinda fun, but that is.
