Never heard of this. Could be a blind buy for me.

Very good and interesting movie. I expected a little bit more supernatural stuff, but still really good

This is a great film. I watched it via Shudder, and was really impressed by it.

This is what I wrote about it a few weeks back

"Tigers..." dips much more into horror/supernatural territory than "Pan's.." ever does however, and there are some pretty creepy scenes scattered throughout the film. The majority of the cast are children, and they all do a very good job, especially the lead actress, Paola Lara. While there are quite a lot of really tragic moments in the film, there's also a lot of entertaining, and humorous parts too. These orphans may appear tough on the outside, but they are all just innocent children at the core, and as such, they like to play around, and have fun.

The movie also has some really great photography. My favorite composition is of this broken, and hollowed out television that's framed so that the sun is piercing through an open hole in it. I've captured it here:

If I had one complaint, it would be the use of handheld cameras in scenes without much movement, which made everything feel like it was constantly in motion, and made it hard to relax my eyes. Aside from that though, I thought this was a really unique take on the ongoing drug war happening in Mexico.

4/5

Thank you for the good insight.
Blind buy based, mainly, on Mifunefan’s review(if I don’t like it he owes me purchase price ), but also to support smaller labels doing steelbooks.
This is a growing trend that brings a smile to my face.

Preordered!

..It's certainly different than a lot of movies I've seen. Has moments that reminded me of City of God, but then delves into fantasy/horror like Pan's Labyrinth if set in a Mexican Drug cartel world. It's an ambitious film, and I'm glad it's finally coming to BD.

Del Toro also endorses it and spoke at the TIFF Q&A!

López’s next film is being produced by Del Toro.
