Could anyone recommend a 5.1 speaker system for a new setup in a family room?

600 dollars or less? Is there anything out there that is worth it? (Just the speakers)

Are you willing to look at used? Or must it be new?

Size of room? Larger rooms may overwhelm low end speakers.

No, I am not against buying used at all. I am looking for speakers that I can mount in the corners of the room. Do you know anything about these speakers?

All depends on what you have to drive them with and size of room. Hard to give any recommendation without all the useful info. Kind of like asking are these tires any good without knowing the vehicle or where they are going to be used.

Personally I would go for the 5.1 AJ set I linked before as they are in the $600 budget you specified. Best bang for buck for new.
