Default Sony vs Onkyo

Hey guys

My current HTS system (Philips HTS5591) has been flipping me the finger on multiple occasions so I decided to look for a new system.

I've been looking at systems with a receiver and I've narrowed down my choices to:

Sony HT-DH550SS (includes receiver STR-DH550)
http://www.sony.co.in/support/produc...t:manuals#spec

Onkyo HT-S3705 (includes receiver HT-R393)
http://www.uk.onkyo.com/en/products/...ml?tab=Details

These are complete sets but should be easier to replace components with these sets than my previous Philips HTS.

Both products are in the price range of $700 / €600 / £500 which is my current budget for this.

I've read multiple reviews for both sets and reviews in general for both brands but I find it impossible to decide. I'm leaning towards the Onkyo but I've read they had HDMI & overheating issues in the past.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

EDIT: my 3rd choice was this but it seems to be discontinued: http://de.yamaha.com/de/products/aud..._g/?mode=model (in German sorry couldn't find any other version)

I myself would go with the Onkyo simply because it will sound better than the Sony. Sony is a great brand but not for stereo/audio. I would not worry about HDMI issues with Onkyo. I have owned both brands and Onkyo will be the better of the two. Good luck.

I've got a Onkyo and frickin' love it. I've heard good things about Denon too.
