Is this worth picking up? The price is really nice IMO.

I had one of the HTIB for a few years. I really enjoyed it, got it refurbed for less than $200.00 and that was an amazing price. Then upgraded 3 years ago. Which system are you looking at getting?

This one, I currently have a sound bar, hardly ever use it just because the dialogue is so low, it's annoying lol

That is definitely going to be a step up from a sound bar.

I think so, I used a similar HTIB (but 7.1, which was going for about $400) for about 3 years before upgrading and I was very satisfied. I actually still use it but not as my main sound system anymore.

It's a good system for a nice price. The only real con's are in the fact that it is harder to upgrade individual components if something goes bad or you want a nicer sub or speakers. But if you just want a good system that isn't too hard on your wallet and doesn't require lots of research matching components, then this is a good way to go.

Yeah the only thing I see could limit you if you plan to slowly upgrade would be that the receiver does not have a pre-amp for the subwoofer which would allow to use a different sub. However, you could upgrade all the other speakers, but when you want to upgrade the subwoofer you would need to buy a new receiver.

This post has a lot more info than the one you might want, but it certainly goes over placement depending on the number of speakers. It's pretty useful and who knows, you might want to calibrate it with better tools after reading it.

Can someone post best deals for HTIB? Refurb, used, doesn't matter to me as long as it is HDMI.

Here's the Onyko Outlet:but they dont have any HTIB at this time.
https://www.shoponkyo.com/products_r...s=1&group_id=1

Another Refurb dealer with a few in stock..
http://www.accessories4less.com/make...ml?brand=Onkyo

I would get this one:
http://www.accessories4less.com/make...bwoofer/1.html

The one you have linked to for Best Buy is only 219.00. The receivers are refurbs, but the speakers and remote will be brand new. Good Luck

What are the main differences between a 5.1 and 7.1 setup? Is it a huge difference?

Your best bet is to look over the specs of each, to see what best suits your needs. The 7.1 is a newer receiver, but the 5.1 will be plenty for most starter sets. I have a 7.1 set, but only have the 5.1 speakers setup.
