I recently purchased this HTiB system as I was playing movies off of my 58 inch 1080p plasma with the built in speakers (total garbage) and saw this LG Z906 on sale for $250 brand new. One of my relatives has it and I was impressed with the sound so I purchased it.

My question is - for $250 is there much better out there? I can always use it as a sick computer speaker setup in the future for gaming, when I do upgrade to a legit sound system setup.

Exactly, what are your interests concerning a sound system, and the features that you're looking for? There are many brands to choose from and depending on your budget. For $250.00 you can get a nice receiver, but you'll still may have to buy the speakers separately.

Thanks for the response! I really was looking into either a soundbar or a pair of used speakers from like craigslist just to satisfy myself until I can afford a big-boy setup. I'm currently a senior in my undergrad and will be moving to another state soon, so sometime in the Fall I will purchase myself good equipment.
