I just read the entire first page and yikes, not every post being crusty old men on this forum complaining that they don't know who Billie Eilish is.

Just because you don't know who she is at your old age, doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't. Billie Eilish, at just a few years into her career, already amassed 47 MILLION followers on Instagram. Every teenager in America knows who she is, and so do the vast majority of people 25 and under.

She may not be the best singer, I find her whisper vocals to be nauseating at times, but there's definitely a lot worse artists out there (the face tattoed rappers with neon hair). If you youtube search Billie Eilish meeting fans, she's a very down to earth person who enjoys what she's doing. She's a great role model for young people.

Back in my day, Avril Lavigne was our Billie Eilish. Every generation has one. I still think any Avril song is miles better than any Billie song, but I'm not going to complain about Billie being as popular as she is now. She'll be in the spotlight for another 10 years until someone else similar comes along, etc.

I couldn't agree more with this entire post. I was skeptical of her initially but after a few listens of her album, seeing how creative and outside the box she is visually, and watching some interviews with her, I became a fan. She also CAN belt it out when she's not doing the whisper thing (see: "No Time To Die" performance at the BRITs, and "When The Party's Over" at the Grammy's earlier this year).

Plus, it's a documentary for Apple TV+, not PBS. Not a big deal.

My favourite version of When The Party's Over is definitely this one:

so in my opinion Billie's songs can be great if better singers do them.

My main takeaway when I listened to her When We All Fall Asleep album was that it kept really making me want to switch and listen to Tricky, particularly his Maxinquaye album. And then I'd just go deeper into dives revisiting more trip hop.

I don't mean that as a value judgement or as unfavorable comparison. Her style is unique and I can see the appeal, but I couldn't quite get super into it. And I have liked some other bit of songs I've heard from her since, including the No Time to Die theme -- which I kept trying to avoid until the movie came out, but then I did accidentally and I liked.

I love her voice but hate her songs haha. Her lyrics just don't resonate with me I guess. I wish she had better writers. I'll check out the doc though. Can't wait to see the opening credits of No Time to Die!

Billie Eilish is my favourite artist, whatever judgements that might bring. I don't attach to music as much as I do to other artforms, but I've listened to her almost every day since 'when we all fall asleep, where do we go?' came out and I'll never get sick of it. She's incredible. Her voice, her music and her lyrics are all tremendous and I think she deserves all of her success.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to this

I like a wide range of music, but I just don't get her or her mumble voice singing with the same few notes for every song. It's monotonous and numbing. So I guess it suits the times, maybe.

Barely 2 months later and Billie Eilish is at 76.7M insta followers.

I like Billie Eilish. Her EP and album are very good, and I can't wait to hear more of her stuff.

Right? Annoying, appears stupid and is kind of ugly too. A complete package fail.

The magnitude of self importance projected by those early comments - sounded strong enough to deflect the neutrinos which bombard us from outer space and normally pass straight through our living cells at the speed of light.- It's a wonder they didn't just join hands and make a minimum effort to block this film's release with nothing but their own sense of propriety.

Toxic masculinity and male insecurity at its best.
