Default Replacing Lamp on WD60737

After over 3 years my Mitsubishi WD60737 has 5029 hours on the original lamp, the time has come to replace it. I have noticed in the last month or so that the picture is getting considerably dimmer and after turning on bright mode(to compensate) I believe it is making it deteriorate faster now. Hopefully it won't go out completely before the new lamp gets ordered next week I'll probably order two just to have a backup on hand for just in-case.

Over 5000 hours.... not to bad ?

I shouldn't have said anything. I jinxed myself, the lamp died today. I was reminded by my SWMBO that I had purchased a 5 year warranty went I got the TV in 2009. I called to confirm that I had indeed bought the extra coverage and asked if it covered lamps. I was told that I do have the extra warranty and it does cover lamps. I just have to get a copy of my purchase invoice from the store I got the TV from and call the warranty company to set up an appointment with the local tech. With any luck I hope to be up and running again by the weekend.

The lamp finally arrived today Now I can watch movies on a big screen again. I had hooked up my 19" computer monitor to my AVR with a HDMI-DVI adapter. It was a sad sight for sure, I placed the monitor on an end table and slide it 2 feet in front of the couch. I would have much rather been outside doing something but to damn cold.

Oh and if anyone needs the service manual for these Mitsu TV's I have a PDF copy I got from the service tech
