I just received an e-mail from SONY about a class action lawsuit that was filed.
This is pertaining to the optical block issues with the SXRD Rear Projection TVs. Here is a link (dated 5/28/2010) - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/new...pl?news_id=402 This may interest those that currently own and have had (or may) have issues with the Optical Blocks. Sorry if this has been posted, but it appears to be updated news to me. |

Glad I got my 50" A2000 replaced by my extended warranty. After 4 optical blocks in about a year, BB said screw it and gave me my money back. Bought a 52" Samsung b750 and couldn't be happier. I've had three Sony tv's in the past 10 years, and all of them have been nothing but crap. Will never buy anything else they have.
This lawsuit settlement is a kick in the nuts to anyone who owns one of these tvs. Essentially they are walking away from the problem they created and their only compensation to the owners is a few hundred dollars, or if you are "lucky" they'll sell you a new LCD (low end one at that) for some ridiculous amount. Talk about great customer relations. I feel sorry for anyone with one of these turds. |

i had my OB replaced a couple of years ago and it has held up great, no problems. I also had a lamp changed about a year ago and the set looks like new. i had both of these done under the extended warranty i picked up from BB when i bought the tv. Geek Squad really took good care of me and i'm happy about that. it was one time that i was glad that i picked up that extended warranty! yes, i do feel sorry for anyone who is essentially stuck. i think it's been a couple of years since you could buy one of these sets new. i unfortunately understand that sony can't support and shouldn't have to support their liability forever either. with that said, i do think they should give either more money or at least the next higher up in tv that they are offering. i think as long as they have offered an equal size screen and 1080p set lcd and give you a full warrenty on it then it's probably not going to be a bad thing. and to show some love throw in a refurb ps3 slim now that's a deal that i think everyone could live with. while i haven't had any problems with mine after having my warranty work done years ago if they offered me a new 1080p 55" set and a refurb ps3 slim that would satisfy me very much!
![]() again, i feel everyones pain in this and i hope you can get it resolved and move on. |

Sorry to bump this post But I cannot make my own thread yet so please forgive me. I just need to know what you guys think it is and if sony will cover it ? Sony sxrd kds 60A3000 60 inch tv The bulb went out...I replaced it and it blew out after I turned the tv on. I then sent the bulb back and got a free replacement and the second one burnt out.I am not touching the bulb and I got the bulb in the housing already as well. Does sony cover this ? I keep seeing they are offering emplacement tv's and law suits. The tv was purchased in 2007 . Thank you guys

Edit: Forgot to ask, are you using an OEM bulb or an equivalent? Was is well packaged during shipping? If it's not OEM, that might be your problem as the quality of non OEM isn't necessarily as good, or good at all. Last edited by pentatonic; 09-21-2012 at 05:38 PM. |

if your not the Harold them mention they it means that they sent you the wrong information that was about someone else. simply email them back and ask them what this has to do with the belief that the tv is blowing out the lamps. keep us posted. |
