Hey,
I'm upgrading a 3-year-old 42" Vizio (meh) and thinking of buying the Mits 65738 3D TV, but I have a few questions. 1. I play games mostly, so how are these for gaming? Laggy? Smooth? Hitting up Mag, Socom 4 and KZ3. 2. I know the bulbs burn out, so can I just buy a replacement bulb with my TV to have on hand or do they go "stale" in storage? I like being proactive when possible. 3. I'll be sitting about 7-8 feet from the TV. Think this is a good size? 4. Anyone have an settings or link for getting the Mits 65738 setup perfectly? My main reason for thinking Mits is budget and while I want 3D I don't want to spend a lot on 3D now since there are probably tons of improvements and price drops coming over the next 1-2 years. But I can't wait since I want a size upgrade now. ![]() |

Starting reading owners thread on AVS forums and hit Best Buy and answered 3 of the 4 questions.
1. Game lag isn't really there, so that's good. 2. Can have bulb sitting here if desired. 3. The 73" would be amazing from 7-8 feet out, but I'm going 65" and that's still solid. 4. No clue still. In short, I'm going with the 738 series around Super Bowl time. Hope there are nice sales. |

I'm hoping to see a killer deal on the 73" 738 by end of Jan or start of Feb. If not, I'll go to the 65". Can't wait.

I think you'll be fine with the mits. Had the 73"(projector and DLP(not 3-D) and sat about 7-8 ft away and had a great picture. I heard great reviews about their new 3-D DLP/or Laser, but you have to buy the Mit's adapter I believe for the 3-D viewing for the glasses and the bulb thing(is why I got rid of mine) you can buy them and let them sit in the closet as back up..That's what I did, but never had to use it, because I ended up selling it before anything happened.

As to the lamps going out, doesn't bother me much. With solid use, they should last at least 12-18 months and they are $99 and take a sec to swap. I'm ok with that. And yeah, I definitely want 1 in the closet just in case. ![]() |

Hello, 65738 owner here. Had it for about 3 weeks now and love it! Don't do much gaming on it, however my step-son did put Black Ops on and the 3D was CRAZY. It's actually our daily TV, as well as movie TV. Avatar looks awesome!
![]() Oh yeah, we sit about 8-10 feet away. |

Saw the 65-738 for $1099 on Amazon the other day! Unfortunately, I'm was not ready to buy. IT's back at $1300 now.
Hope to see that nice price in a couple weeks. |

You don't need an adapter for 3D on those models. Just do the update. All you'll need are glasses. You can either get DLP link glasses or the IR ones. For the IR glasses, you need the emitter for em. |

I was researching it. Mitsubishis website wasnt very clear imo, but I may just be boneheaded on this. I just know almost nothing of 3d technology lol.
If you dont mind me sorta hijacking this thread... still ontopic a bit anyways... I have a sony bd 570 3d player. I am using a 1.3 hdmi cable connected directly to my tv. If I got the DLP link glasses (will any work, or do I need ones specific for the mitsubishi?), would I just be able to put them on, put on a 3d blu ray, and watch a movie in 3d? |

From what I hear you need "1.4" HMDI, which is really just a high-speed cable. The "standard" versions don't have the output needed for 3D. Any DLP-link glasses work. You need 3DTV, Glasses, 3D player (like PS3) and 3D content. If you don't have a true 3DTV, you need a converter, but the 738/838 with firmware update are true 3DTVs. |

![]() 2. Not sure about bulb storage, but each company's bulb life is different I know we've have a RP Sony that I think is from like 2004 or 2005 and that sucker is still running even with my brother leaving it on for nights and days, hitting it when he fails at games, playing maybe 4-10 hours of games a day. Our mits is to new to have bulb issues. 3. Yes I sit 6-7 from a 55 so 7-8 for that size should give you a great experience. 4. No but I'd be curious to see the tv calibrated and see if that would change my opinion on gaming, I'm not sure if its because its stretched so much that it ruins object detail thats far away or what but I can tell you I didn't see much difference from an 82'' made last year from that sony we have from 2004 or 05 in terms of pure gaming quality.
