This is the dilemma I am in as well -- if you noticed my signature, I too am a RTi12 owner, and I am currently feeding them even less power than you...90 watts a channel, if I am damn lucky, through an Onkyo 605...

I'm in a rut as I don't have cash to purchase a high end receiver which is 1.4 capable for 3D and all the 1.4 capable ones in my price range right now either have pre-outs and no internet (Yamaha) or internet and no pre-outs (Pioneer). I have to get into the $1000 range receivers to get both but might get the amp first then the receiver unless someone takes the 05 off of my hands. I have a Panasonic BT-300 which gets me past the 1.4 hurdle for BD now but would rather have everything run through the receiver.
I hear you -- while I'm not in the market for 3D or a receiver with HDMI 1.4, I would like to get a high powered AVR to feed the RTi's and then possibly later an external amp...but like you, the cash just isn't there...

I should've put Denon on that list of internet capable but no pre-outs until the 3311/3312 level. I like to stream internet radio so it's a must as well as pre-outs for when I eventually get an amp or amps. With having to get front and back brakes done, medical bills and moving, not enough money for luxuries. The 05 will be fine for now. Need to find some overtime at work .

I totally hear you on the expenses...

As I said to someone else, I used to consider Denon and Onkyo the best way to go for AVRs -- since then, I have been hearing from people that Denon has been blowing their power ratings way out of proportion and that their power supplies in their AVRs are becoming embarassingly lower-end. I cannot confirm that as gospel.

For this year, no. If they are still making DLPs next year, they possibly could.

USA Vitrual speakers

This tv seems like it's going to be awesome I just don't understand why there is no plans to make non diamound 92inch most people who buy stuff like this are already going to have some type of surround sound set up who needs vitraul speakers. I heard they are nice but come on you can't compare a virtual speaker set up to a real surround sound set up.

My father and I just bought the 92 Inch ( WD-92840 )from hh gregg this weekend...Its a bad a** tv! Its funny, he has redone his whole basement and deciding he wanted to get rid of his old Sony Dlp..which i couldn't tell you what model only that it was 72 inches haha..but anyways long story short..he was going to buy a 60 inch plasma but turned around and saw the 92 and had to pull the trigger!..out the door after taxes he paid 4799 with 3 year extended warranty!..I thought he got one hell of deal..worse comes to worse it blows up after 3 years and he buys a new tv haha.. But for what it is i think it will be just fine for my folks! 3d ready too!

Sony never made a DLP set. I hope you enjoy the 92" Mits! With that size 3D viewing should be fantastic.

It also has a mode where that virtual speaker can be used as the center channel in your existing surround setup. I can't imagine the timbre matching would be very good with any really nice setups, but it could be really nice with a lot of HTiB's and what not.

Okay.

I finally saw this TV (the 92 incher beast) on one of the home shopping networks -- don't remember if it was "HSN" or "QVC" -- and I was drooling. The thing is, they were selling the 70-something-inch model a day before that, then they moved up to selling the 80-something and then the 92, so people who were sucked into thinking the 70-something-inch model was the largest they could buy on this network and from Mitsubishi kind of got "screwed" when they started selling the 92...

That said, I'd really love to have one of these, as it would be a nice alternative to doing a separate screen and projector. The thing is, does anyone know if the 1080p image on these things is any good? I keep hearing that when you blow up images that big, there's going to be a big loss of image quality, but I've never seen one in action -- the set they were showing on the home shopping channel looked a bit soft on the demo material they were showing, but who the heck knows how they had the screen set up...

How is the quality on these sets? What kinds of picture modes are there?

I wish we could afford one of these or had the space for one -- in the end, we will end up having to get probably no bigger than a 58" or 60"...

I have never seen the 92. But I own the 82 and it's amazing what the picture looks like.

Hey Mirage!

Thanks for the feedback on the 82; is the picture really that great? Are you feeding it 1080p via HDMI? Do you have any pics of your setup to share?

I bought my 82837 mitsubishi 82" set in october of 2009 (has it really been 2 years already?!)... I love it - have never had any trouble with it and think it's amazing...

have to admit if I had known a 92" was going to become available, I might have waited!

Wow; lots of positive feedback on the giant Mitsus...

I'm wondering just who is "more accurate" about these findings, because almost everyone in another thread is telling me to stay far away from the DLP designs...

I would rather have a 65 inch plasma. I'm sure it's a good tv but, at that price point you might as well buy a projector. Not to mention you would have to drop some coin on a TV stand that will hold that beast. Don't forget about the replacement bulbs either.

Very interesting counterpoint and view, Blu Balls; indeed, the stand to house any of these beasts -- or a custom wall unit like I'd want -- would have to be factored into the cost; probably a ridiculous number. The replacement bulbs are another thing too, you're right.

I, for one, would just rather have a TV screen instead of a screen and projector if push came to shove (taking out of the equation the fantasy of having a true, large dedicated room with tiered seating, recliners with cup holders, velvet ropes and drapes, etc. in which case I'd like a 110-inch-plus screen of course with projector); that's why these Mitsubishis seemed so appealing to me. It's like having a projector screen without the projector and the hassle of getting the setup and calibration right -- plus, I've heard (but never experienced personally) that these projection systems are a bit softer and less focused in performance compared to a modern day flat screen of some kind.

At the end of the day, I can't afford or physically house any of these massive DLPs, so the biggest upgrade for us is going to be a 60" TV display of some kind, but I was interested to hear back from owners of these gigantic Mitsubishi TVs (especially the 92 inch owners) with regard to the picture quality they are experiencing...

I'm tellin ya, cool -- once you see that 92 incher, you're gonna want it. I saw one at RC Willey last week, and the thing is just ridiculously huge.

I think I saw the 82 at Frys too -- but I can't recall the image quality. We saw the 72 at a Rent-a-Center a couple of weeks ago, and fed from a PS3 via HDMI, Blu-ray loops/trailers looked okay...kind of like my SXRD image quality (on the softish side, but not washed out at all).

So, you're another that votes for the DLP and its reliability, huh?
