Default shattered a bulb on my 60 inch Mitsubishi DLP

Was watching Megamind with my kids last Tuesday and heard a "hiss......POP" then the screen went black. And no light in the back. The green TV light was now a bright solid Red so I knew I had blown a bulb, had the TV 8 months our old 65 inch cabinet RPTV we had for 7 years and never replaced a bulb in it. The wife called Mitsubishi and they sent a bulb but took a week to get here, finally got it and took the olb bulb out and it shattered

Got the new bulb put in, its was superr easy but pain to have to order.... anyone else have issues in the first year of ownership?

How many hours have you clocked? Heavy users that watch 10-14 hours a day have had them go bad. In some cases, it's just a weak bulb. If it does it again, you could have an internal issue that is leading to overheating of the lamp.

That's probably the reason. I had an SXRD bulb go bad at around the year mark and the second bulb lasted almost three years. If you don't have a spare, you should look into getting one so you don't have the downtime of the TV. You can find them for around $100 or so, sometimes less depending on the model.
