Mitsubishi WD-73732 DLP Red/Green Flickering Horizontal Lines - Blu-ray Forum

I received a Mitsubishi WD-73732 DLP yesterday for free and was told that the only problem that the previous owner had with it was that they couldn’t get it to turn on after they replaced the lamp. I’ve owmed Mitsubishi DLPs in the past so that was a pretty easy fix.

That was not the only issue.

When I did get it going, the display was filled with an obnoxious amount of flickering horizontal green lines. After about 30 minutes, the lines are red and less obnoxious and less prominent depending on the colors of the image on the display.

I’m hoping that this is an easy fix like changing out a color wheel or a DLP chip. It’s not really a big deal as this is just an extra TV, but it would be nice to get it going if I could.

I still have 2 of those TVs, my 65 has the dead pixel issue (DLP Chip) but I'm not using it anymore at the moment. I still use the 82 inch one and I would say it looks like its the color wheel (obviously color issue) as you thought as well. Luckily the color wheel is not as expensive like the DLP chip is today. by any chance did you get any blinking lights before your first fix of this tv set? knowing the error code is half the battle.

The only indicator that was lit was the orange light for the lamp indicating that the back panell on the lamp wasn’t secure.

It was missing a screw and the one that was there was loose so I teplqced the one and tightened the other.

After I started the set it didn’t immediately come up so I hit the reset button.
