Mitsubishi bulbs cost $99.00 to replace, not $250. Purchase it from mitsubishi and put it in yourself. make sure you are wearing cotton gloves when you touch the bulb you dont want to get any smudges on it. Sheesh, $250 dollars for a bulb? you are misinformed OP.

Sorry to hear about it anyways, that's once of the reason i went with Samsung LED engine. I had a Sony LCD RPTV that i sold after 4 years, the current user says still going strong on original bulb

I was ging to say to the OP that if your getting that kind of problem after only a year then there is another issue with your TV. I can't see the bulb going bad especially as you say you only watch it on Sundays. Do you have a lot of dust because it could be blocking you fan vent.

To the OP, I think you should have done your research befor you went into the DLP ship....i had my first blow out after a year and seven months, luckuly i got the warranty for 3 and it covered the first one...but i did my homework and i knew the bulbs were going to eventually need to be replaced...so i was ready for that....if you arn't happy i suggest you sell it and get something that isn't going to a hassle for you...good luck...

About the blocking the airway message....there was a fix that mitsubishi covered under the warranty, so i guess you are out of luck with that....if the message appears from time to time and not too often no biggy....

I've had my DLP for almost a year with no problems with the bulb at all. Unfortunately when buying a rear projection tv, bulb replacement is a nessesary evil. My biggest problem with my TV, as with all RPTV's, is that once you get passed 55" the picture won't be as detailed as with one below that size. So I'm looking at a replacement, more than likely (after final convincing from Sonny. ) a 60" KURO!!!!

I can't speak for all Mitsubishi Owner's Manuals but I do recall seeing this information listed in the OMs that I've looked at in the past. It may not say to specifically vacuum it every three months, but it did say to periodically clean it when it accumulates dust.

I just checked The Mitsubishi website again and the bulb for the WD-65835
is $99.00 I don't understand why my bulb for WD-65732 costs $249.00
Oh well I still will keep and recommend Mitsubishi Tv's. I have owned 5
Mitsubishi big screens since 1993 when my first was a 50'' solid oak cabinet, That tv is still being watched today by my friend who I sold it to for $500
back in 2003. My next Mitsubishi Tv will be the new Laservue when it comes down in price!

I don't mind mine. These days, with any piece of technology, you have to pay to play.

As it goes, bulb replacement is pretty normal on DLP's and most minor research would have informed you of this. 14 months is pretty short, but not unheard of. I would not presume it to be simply due to the fact it's a Mitsubishi.
I came close to getting a Mitsubishi when I changed over to a Sony 70" RPTV - based on a lot of reviews which mentioned the short bulb life on Mitsubishi units. The picture was terrific (better black levels than the Sony, I thought) but the bulbs are more expensive, and have about a third the life span.

I got my Sony in 2003, and have only replaced one bulb so far.

Thumbs up No Buyer's Remorse with my Mitsubishi DLP!

As you can see by my signature block, I have a 57 in Mitsubishi HDTV (DLP). Got it the week after Thanksgivings in 2006 (Circuit City, w/free shipping). Have not had a single problem with it. We recently extended our warranty just in case. Considering the huge size of the screen, the initial low cost, and the fact that back in 2006 it was already 1080P capable with 24 Frames per second feature, it was hard to pass this up. As big as it is, it only weights 86 lbs. I just finished watching Serenity on it and I still marvel at the clear bright display. No buyer's remorse at all after 25 months!

let me say this, do you have any idea how many 25" zenith console tv's are still working? they are at least what, 25 year old tv's? and i had to replace the bulb on this tv 14 months later? at $250 a bulb? all i can say is i will no longer be purchasing any of their products.

every so often i keep getting the amber light signal, and a message on screen that something is blocking the intake vent. i have never been so pissed in my life, when i first bought this tv i raved about it. the picture quality was awesome. my friends and family were impressed. but no more Mitsubishi for me.
one of my coworkers asked for advice, i told him mitsubishi dlp was the way to go, he bought a 50" dlp. guess what? not even ayear after he had his he had to replace his bulb. but it was under warranty so he got new bulb replacement for free. this kind of coincedence with their bulbs is a little upsetting to say the least.
i really find it hard to believe that i have to pay $250 a year to watch tv( replacing freakin bulbs) when there are litterally thousands of people with their trusty 25" console tv's still working after 25 years or more......

so no thank you mitsubishi, anyone reading this and contemplating getting one of their tv's, better rethink their decision,

feel free to contact me
I have a 73" Mitsubishi DLP, no issues(13 months old, and I have a 3 year warranty i purchased for the reason you are complaining about). Great value for the dollar

Just my 2 cents of course

alot depends on usage as well, If it doesnt run much it should last longer but if its on 12-15 hours a day or longer it will burn out faster. Mine tends to be on that long everyday, kids turn it on and sometimes they never turn it off when they fall asleep

I got my 65" Mitsubishi widescreen HDTV 1080i back in 2001.

Have not replace any bulbs after 8 years of use.

I hate Mitsubishi, I really wanted to replace the bulbs in my TV, but it won't go out. If you want to replace bulbs in your RPTV, dont buy mitsubishi, it will never go out.

But serious folks. I guess I am the only lucky one on Planet earth.

Seriously 8 years?? You must not use your tv a lot, or you may have your brightness very low....but thats really good though....

How so?

60" Mitsu DLP - $1200
LG 60PG60 60-Inch 1080p Plasma - $3000

At $250 a bulb you would need to have 7.2 Bulb replacements for the DLP to equal the cost of the LG plasma.

Show me someone who has had to replace their bulb more than 7 times.
