...also, remove the cover on the rear panel that accesses the lamp assembly (you have one of those old styles, right?), clean it if needed and inside the exposed area in the cabinet. Re-install the access cover. There is supposedly a switch associated with the cover and R2 (remove/replace) sometimes corrects these random power cycling events.

My 1080i/720p Sammy has a series of indicator lights on the "On/Off" button, depending on how they flash tells you what may be wrong. Refer to your user manual for the different codes. Samsung.com or .ca has user manuals in pdf form.
Another problem might be your bulb is about to go, mine went at almost 3 years. When mine went (basically shattered) the TV would power up, barely display a picture, and make a really annoying "static" type noise, then no picture at all. Open the back access panel, unscrew the bracket and remove the bulb (still in the carriage), if it looks burnt or shattered then that's it, if it is the bulb it will be obvious... if everything looks intact like a typical incandecent bulb then this might not be the problem. I ordered a new bulb through local retailer, up and running maybe 4 or 5 days later and the TV is like new again, just as brilliant as day 1. Save yourself the cash, remove the bulb yourself, bring it to the repair shop/retailer bring home the new one and install it yourself. I even googled a how-to with detailed pictures. i really don't think its overheating, it'll be within the first 30min-1hr being on and it'll just shut off for no reason while i'm playing games or just watching TV. its really annoying, the only thought i had was the bulb was about to go but picture still looks good.

http://www.fixya.com/support/t351382...p_tv_shuts_off Read a couple of threads that suggest checking the blue switch on the lamp door to make sure its properly seated. The second thread here has its own thread with pictures of what it should look like. One guy said he put a fan blowing air over the lamp door and it fixed his problem. Just make sure your lamp filter is clean and the blue switch is seated properly for starters. Last edited by TVguy86; 01-14-2009 at 03:19 AM. |

ah my friend dont get upset, my girlfriends dads samsung dlp had the exact problem u speak of. All u do is remove a flap from the back of the unit using a screw driver and make sure that the switch in the unit is positioned properly. I will try to find the instructions issued by samsung as to how this is done. I fixed the problem 100 percent and took me about 2 minuites to do.

I also have had a problem with my Sam. 56" 720p. My issue is either not being able to shut off the TV, (had to unplug) or not being able to start the TV after shutting it down. I believe my problem had something to do with my PS Audio Power Cond. I would just unplug from the Power Cond. then replug. Then power the TV back up. Thankfully my problem seems to be gone, have not had a problem for couple of months. I don't know if any of this info. helps you but, just thought I'd share it you. In addition to checking the lamp door (same problem with my set) never use the big center button to power your TV on and off... It appears to be a poor design and gets stuck at times... Always use the remote control instead...

I have a 61" Samsung DLP and I just got the Spears and Munsil Calibration bluray disc. After running through the test patterns it has come to my attention that the image on my TV is not only cropping pixels on the top and bottom but the image is also shifted over almost 3/4 of an inch. From what I can tell, there are no options to reposition the image on the screen and get it centered. Has anyone had any experience with this or any ways to fix it?
