ah, nepotism

there was a lot of that at the last place i worked. just every single one of them got the job simply because they were a son, daughter, cousin, nephew, niece, etc. and none of them knew anything about actually having a job. they just came in, did nothing, and got a paycheck. and let me tell you....their paycheck was a HELLUVA lot more than most. like they were making about 5 times more than people that did actual work.

I’ve been out of work since April 2018 and I do miss it. I was in a bad accident and was electrocuted at work with almost 30,000 volts of electricity. I almost died twice, and had to get over 250 stitches on my head, had 3rd and 4th degree burns on 24% of my body (arm, back and bottom), lacerated my spleen, broken ribs, and broke my neck in 2 places.

After something like this happening, I am grateful for every day. Even working, I liked my job and most of my co-workers, and miss it.

I like my job, bossís and schedule, but hate, HATE, a couple of my accounts. I work 4/10 hour days and as long as Iím there by 0630, complete my resets and donít go over my 10 Iím golden. Unfortunately, I donít think some of these stores realize the amount of work we do there. I honestly want to ask them, ďWhat do you expect of us? Because you need to be less focused on what weíre doing and more on what your crew is doing at this point.Ē Especially now that I know my company will no longer be servicing their stores.

Sure, maybe another will hire us on, but Iím not sure the pros outweigh the cons. Last week I had a perishable manager come up to me wanting a tag made for something I set over a month ago. Iíd be more understanding if heíd brought it to my attention the week after, but a month?!?!?! ***** please! The photo I took after the set shows the tag there. So do your job, stop changing my resets and get the pricing specialist to make a ****ing tag instead of me

If I wasn't working, I'd be in a state of perpetual boredom at home. So yeah, work is what breaks my monotony in life.

Wow, I really hope you are doing ok and at least relatively pain free.

I liked working more then I like looking for a job. So many emails from the job searching apps, applications that take up to a hour to complete and ask for all sortsa personnel information and then have you take tests to asses your personality and job skills, scam/spam emails offering work from home jobs.
And I haven't even gotten to the interviewing portion of trying to find a new job yet and I'm sure I'll like that even less.

I like my job. I work in the field of Internet sales and spend with a robot just a few hours a day. But I have long been building this opportunity for myself. In parallel, I try to make money on the Internet

Working is stressful and can be very intense at times. But like you said, it gives me more self-confidence and self-worth. And at the end of the day, I'm tired, but I am satisfied to have accomplished something in my day. And that's why vacations can be hard for me sometimes. I always looks forward to vacations because I get to finally rest, go away and do things that I didn't have time to do because I was always working. But them, my confidence and self-worth starts to go down the drain and I'm like, "I'm having all this fun and relaxation. Now, what's my purpose on life?" And then I end up being in a funk. This is why work is something I can and cannot live with. I need work to keep me going in life, but then again, I hate work because it's stresses me out.

Well, it depends from tasks and kind of work, but I completely believe that I don't like to lay on the couch and do nothing at all.

I’m a hard worker, but I’ve also reached a point in my life where I’m too old for that shit. I went to the store earlier and kept being asked there why I didn’t I transition from my former employer to working directly for our old accounts.

If you know the road is a dead end, do you keep going on that road or go another way? It is why I’m looking for a job that will utilize my years of experience and still challenge me in a new direction.

When I graduated from high school, I wanted something that paid more. I decided to go work construction. You didn't need a degree to do it and apprenticeships pretty much paid for all your schooling. Plus they are union jobs with good pay and retirement. Well after four years of working in it, I really wasn't going anywhere. I felt like it was really cliquey where if they didn't like you, you wouldn't get indentured/get an apprenticeship. After four years of having a tough time getting indentured and back issues, I decided I had enough and wanted to do something else.

I always liked computers & technology so I used the money I saved to attend school and get an associate's degree in a computer field. I started with a small business in their tech support area and after graduating, was promoted to the IT dept. I learned a lot there but didn't really like the management so I left. Worked in a NOC for a few years, enjoyed it but there was little room for advancement and I didn't feel like I was improving in my skillset/career. I'm now in with a larger company doing computer support over the phone. I like all of the people I work with, I like the hours, good pay and benefits and great management. My current boss is great to work for. I think there are some days when I get stressed out, but I do like the work and the company. It would really take a lot for me to leave because I feel like this company and position is a great fit for me.

As for working in general, sometimes I need a couple of vacation days. But I look forward to coming in each day.

That ^ is excellent! Good on you!

Iím really liking work now, not that I havenít.
Iím operating a haul truck on OT until Tuesday, then I switch back to my usual gig, Drilling. Itís a great way to mix things up and also keep my skills fresh.
Thereís no other Driller that runs equipment and no Equipment Operator that drills here at this Mine so Iím one of a kind at the moment.
Work is stimulating so it isnít a chore.

My rather bland-looking work station at my cubicle.

[Show spoiler]rsz_bb22.jpg

I received a new Dell computer, monitors (x2), keyboard and mouse for my work.

Who's that awesome looking avatar displayed on the monitor @ right?
It's that awesome member of this movie forum.

I really don't like working, but I can't live without my job at the same time. I'm a single guy living alone with very little family left. My only family that I remain close to are my parents. My grandparents are deceased and my aunt, uncle and cousins are either far away or don't care about remaining close anymore. My only friends are my co-workers but they either live far away or are married with little to no time to hang out outside of work. So, working helps keep my mind off of that. This is why sometimes vacation can be more depressing than happy. Because when I have time off, I have to spend the time alone. I can travel with my parents, but they are not easy to get along with sometimes and they still feel that they can control my life, so I try to do things alone without them.
