Samsung UN65F9000 owners group?

Just picked one up today and was wondering who else on this forum has one??? Is there an owners group thread???

We have the 55" and 65" F9000 on display at our showroom. I have them wall mounted next to Sony's XBR-65X850A and XBR-65X900A.

Don't forget to register for the free 500gb Ultra HD USB drive free gift. The cinema-photography is absolutely stunning.

I'm thinking about bring one home for the 2014 World Cup as it will be the first Ultra HD broadcast.

We also just received Sony's VPL-VM600ES Ultra HD front projector.

it is mathematically impossible to notice 4k on 55 and 65 inch TV sets.

4k doesn't kick in until you get over a 100" inch screen. hell i can't tell unless the screen is 120"+

i can't believe they are marking 4k for such small screen sizes.

Sorry to disagree, but very respectfully here's the true math. Anyone can clearly see the picture quality advantage of native 3840 x 2160p at a viewing distance of 3x the screen height. So on a 55" Ultra HD display you can easily see a sharper image at 7' if it was next to a 1920 x 1080p display with the same content scaled down to HD resolution.

If you want to take full advantage of Ultra HD resolution you need to be between 1.8 and 2.0 times the screen height so at 5' from a 55" UHD screen you would take full advantage of the increased resolution.

Now with all that said in practice I do mostly agree with you and suggest larger screen sizes, like 84" or bigger. Sony's new VPL-VW600ES is an incredible true 4k, 4096 x 2160p front projector and at Ultra Large screen sizes the image quality will amaze the most demanding hardcore video enthusiasts and theater owners.

Above all many of the consumer and motion picture industry leaders as well as myself are pushing very hard to make Ultra HD more than just higher resolution. We want 10 to 14 bit panels with high dynamic contrast ratio, a larger color pallet, like rec. 2020 and higher frame rates. I think we will win the battle and Ultra HD picture performance will truly wow the general public and be far more easily appreciated on all screen sizes.

Happy to say I picked one up a few weeks ago. Doing Home renovations now, but I can't wait to get this bad boy out the box.

Seriously thinking about getting a F9000. The 65" is out of my price range (unless there is a serious sale), so I would have to go with the 55". I have seen them in person, and I agree that there is a difference. I think people get this idea that 4k needs to be 100" from naysaying tech reviewers on the web. That being said, I am not sure if the 55" would be worth it because the size may be riding that line people talk about with 4k. I'm trying to wait for a sale.

I have no idea where you came up with this, but it's not even remotely true. 4k is easily distinguishable on a 65 inch tv, and no you do not have to watch at 2-3 feet from the screen to tell. Once you watch a true 4k demo of source material you will see the difference. It's razor sharp compared to 1080p. I sit about 12 feet from my 65, and there is no comparison to 1080p.
