Don't Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro Season 2 not as good as season 1 (art took a hit as well) though still sweet and cute, can't say the ending was much of a payoff
[Show spoiler]would have much rather had a kiss
but the plot seems to be more of a slow boil for their relationship. Can't really see a season 3 coming as Nagatoro's "grooming" of her senpai into her perfect boyfriend is almost complete.

Dear Brother - 8.5

Overall, pretty good, but wasn't as spectacular as I had expected. I liked the bullying stuff in the beginning but then it got a little too forced melodramatic for my tastes.

Finally got all these Ghiblis on blu-ray so I'm going through them alphabetically, starting with:

Castle in the Sky - 10 (rewatch)

Still as great as before and at the top of the list! Love the characters, the simple adventure, and the beautiful music. Don't know why the ending theme isn't translated.

The Cat Returns - 9 (rewatch, originally a 10 when I first watched it long ago but I readjusted it (I don't normally do this, but I felt it isn't truly "10" material).

Anyways, I really liked the whimsiness and Haru's overly expressive nature. I didn't like the liberties/changes taken with the subs, though, as they ruined a lot of dialogue. Ending theme wasn't translated either.

From Up on Poppy Hill - 9

Better than I thought it would be! A subtle, yet poignant love story.
[Show spoiler]And wincest!

[Show spoiler]I thought the ending was rushed, though. It could've used a little more time with them struggling with their feelings before the mom revealed the truth. And I don't know what was up with the dad's friend at the end, he didn't exactly tell them anything.

Konosuba (season 1) - 9

Really funny, with a healthy mix of ecchi-ness. Reminded me a lot of the Grimgar ova/special. That succubus episode and ova are real classics! I wish there was some actual adventuring but it's all good. I'll get to S2 in a couple of days.

Howl's Moving Castle - 8.5 (rewatch, previously a 7)

I remember feeling that it lulled too much in the middle, but this time it went much smoother. The visuals are simply gorgeous, especially the castle's pseudo-3D, and all that magical glamor is A+. Story-wise, it's a decent "Beauty & the Beast" love story but I still didn't feel a lot of substance, and the ending is almost insulting how it just neatly wraps things up while leaving a whole bunch of unanswered questions. Still, it's a worthy addition to the Ghibli collection.

Casshan: Robot Hunter - 8

Good little ova that's apparently a short summary/retelling of the original tv series, so if you have no interest in that one then this should suffice. Lots of action and great, classic animation/style. Only wish it was longer. I've started the tv series and will get to Sins after.
