Default Denon AVR-S910W - Does anyone know if it supports Dolby Vision now?

My Denon AVR-S910W is almost a decade old at this point, so I thought I was out of luck in terms of my receiver supporting Dolby Vision, but I've found some results on Google saying that it got a firmware update around 2018 that did in fact enable Dolby Vision support? I can't find anything definitive, though, and there don't appear to be any official release notes from Denon about what's included in the various firmware updates that have been pushed over the years.

I already know that it only has ARC support, not eARC, so that means that Dolby Atmos True-HD is NOT capable of being transmitted from the TV to the receiver, so if I plugged the 4K player into my TV's HDMI input, and then used the ARC connection to get the audio to the receiver, I would have Dolby Vision, but lose out on the lossless audio, getting Dolby Digital+ instead.

So I'm really hoping that the receiver will support Dolby Vision after all.

OK, my TV came yesterday and I got everything set up and tested it myself, the HDMI 2.1 cable from the BD820 to the Denon receiver, and another from the receiver to the TV, gets me Dolby Vision.

Unfortunately my PS5 can only do up to 4K30fps with this receiver, if I want higher refresh rate in 4K I need to plug the PS5 directly into a TV input, but then because my receiver only has ARC and not eARC, I only get Dolby Digital+ audio in the return channel to the receiver, so it seems like with this receiver I really can't have it all, I'd need to get a newer receiver. But I don't think it's that big of a deal to me. I typically use headphones when gaming anyway.

Sounds like you cannot do lossless audio on the return channel. Make sure your Blu-ray player is set to bitstream, but I belveve your older A/V receiver only does lossless audio for the HDMI inputs but not lossless audio on the return path.

The latest 2023 A/V receivers from many different brands support both Dolby Vision HDR passthrough and HDR10+ passthrough. Many older A/V receivers from Denon and Pioneer in the last 2-3+ years support Dolby Vision HDR and standard HDR10, but the latest feature to get on 2022 and 2023 A/V receivers is HDR10+. When buying a new A/V receiver make sure it passes both Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10+ for the best resale value and for consumers that own equipment that plays both formats.
