Some other companies do the same. I believe Imprint (ViaVision) in Australia say all preorders are non refundable.

You don’t quote your country but this behaviour by a retailer may be illegal. Here in the U.K. you have the right to change your mind on any U.K. online order and can return in 7 days for a refund if still sealed. That though only applies to U.K. retailers. Many retailers like Amazon or HMV give you longer than the law of up to a month.

Given this is a German retailer not sure what rules apply if you don’t live in Germany or EU as am sure the U.K. law mirrored EU, but obviously we are no longer part so not covered for EU purchases.

Got mine through to the UK today, unfortunately with some crush damage on the outer box (the spine and one of the corners). Annoying, but I'm grateful that everything inside was safe and sound.

It's a thing of beauty, though my shelves would have preferred just the digipak and none of the extra tat.

"Clearly"... you've never been a dedicated Laserdisc enthusiast (or perhaps you're too young for that). I have purchased NUMEROUS titles on Laserdisc (back in the day, not any potential "retro" or "vintage" pricing like you might see today)... that were about 100 bucks (some collector's releases averaging around 70 bucks)!

They could have priced this even higher, considering this is a TRUE "Ultimate Edition"... but they didn't (yeah, I would prefer it didn't cap 50 bucks).

I have a friend who pretty much buys ONLY movies that come in Steelbook... so I'm wondering if he ordered this, or is going to wait 4 years for an Ultimate Edition from Best Buy, that has (at least the discs) in a Steelbook case, instead of that awful cardboard & lexan packaging, with overlapping discs?!!

I'm probably going to get this release (Version A), and put all the discs into a 6-disc UltraHD case, and print a custom label for it. I don't keep my "collector's" boxes (that are unusually large - I'm looking at you, Dirty Harry boxed set) in my movie library... I put those movies into a regular-sized Blu-Ray or UltraHD case (as per their format), and put the collector's boxes in a separate area with the other collectibles (which can be enjoyed - including looking at the artwork, which are often hidden by the discs on some of those collectible sets)!

I am definitely a bit too young for laserdisc. I’m also mostly a steelbook collector but I don’t bit my thumb at other releases if I really want the film. In this case I just don’t see the need for a double sized box for 2x what I think would be fair to pay. Hoping another release comes.

This is a stellar set. However, there seems to be a major audio issue on the bonus disc. Both documentaries exhibit muffled and distorted sound. I checked it on both my Panasonic UB-820 and UB-9000 and the same issue pops up. I’m going to reach out to Turbine but I am curious is anyone else has come across this issue.

How's Turbine's customer service? I had a closer look at my set and found one of the UHDs (Theatrical Cut) unfortunately looking like it has been scraped across a factory floor...

I contacted them about a disc freezing issue with Princess Bride and they shipped out a replacement disc no questions asked.
