Thanks. I see the 39.99 on gamefly .com is for a used disc, but still a nice price for those waiting on the fence for a good deal and have a clear slate of games to try.

Best Buy offers it for 50.99 new.

Digitally on PS Store, I think it's still 59.99.

I got it used from GameFly for $37.99 plus tax. Started playing it over the weekend and after 8 hours I knew I would be keeping it for the long haul.

How is the current performance on PS5 after the VRR update and/pr additional performance patches? Is the bad frame-pacing still a problem? I was thinking about playing this again and I'm not sure whether to play the PS4 version (on a PS5) again or if the PS5 version now has comparable performance.

Haven't played since I 100%ed it but I know it was noticeably worse when I finished xbox and moved right to PS5

But if I fire it up anytime soon I'll post if I notice any differences.

Thanks for the info. That stinks when these developers are public companies on the stock market, as then they're vulnerable to being bought out and dissolved eventually like so many others. Best to keep a company studio private and smaller to avoid losing creative control and the company itself, if profits aren't the most important thing to a developer.

In the end it comes down to who can preserve and cultivate talent...

The beauty of a larger bigger corporation is money and security to develop without fear of running out of $.

The flip side is they are somewhat beholden to shareholder/ profits over quality... hence if they had to make a new Elden ring every year to turn a profit they would (and I don't blame them)..

If you can both fund talent and let them do there thing then its the best of both worlds

Preserve talent being the key words, yes.
As with money security with gaming budgets, unfortunately as we've seen recently, nothing is stable with a big corporation, often dissolving entire developer studios they absorbed, dumping the whole team, firing the leaders, and switching the whole game to a cheaper developer elsewhere, as with Star Wars Old Republic Remake, and Prince of Persia Remake.

CD Projekt Red of Poland used to be self-contained, until they went public and we saw what happened there with their situation. Their priority became satisfying shareholders more than the gamers that got them there.

In this case, 1/3rd share isn't too bad, but they get a say now in what happens with future games...

I would think in terms of multi platform releases, Elden Ring may not be for everybody and easy, but it is definitely a well made game for what it does and i think that's why it got the award.

I would say from exclusives, God of War Ragnarok has the case for PlayStation side.

I mean prior to Elden ring you could count the amount of souls fans in a stadium lmao. Hardly an army of fans forcing an award.


Elden ring touched lots of casual gamers in a good way and the map alone was worthy of the award. While it def had issues from explaining gameplay, and lack of story the map to me makes it an automatic winner. Nothing else like it has been released on the generation (and dare I say last generation.. Maybe Red Dead 2)

The Game Awards are basically just one big commercial and I don’t think anyone takes them too seriously, but sometimes they do get things right. Elden Ring was head and shoulders above all the other nominees in the categories it won. Can’t wait for Armored Core (and hopefully an Elden expansion before too long).
