2 & 4 could do with better transfers as well.

3 I'm not so sure. Tbh I think it's probably the best it'll ever look in 1080p due to the way it was shot.

I thought the transfer of Jaws 2 was very good. I'm sure it could be better but I'm happy with what they did.

Oh yeah it's not terrible by any means but it's ancient and there's definitely room for improvement.

Revenge though... Yikes! A total waxfest.

There's so many things wrong about 4 I don't know where to start. Even so it has some appealing stuff

Michael Caine, the cinematography and the score are the only good things about that turd.

I agree about the opening for Revenge. It really is good and particularly very unsettling. Too bad the rest of the film couldn't live up to it. If they would've kept it in Amity with a completely different story and maintained the dark tone of the opening it could've possibly been pretty good IMO.

the first one is perfect. I actually really like the opening of part 2. that different music cue that williams uses is great.

The best bit was hearing Quint’s theme as the two divers discovered the wreck of the ORCA.

It always amused me that they played that cue, alerting the audience to the familiarity of the boat from the previous movie, with its wrecked transom etc, as soon as it comes into view. Then after a bit of prowling aroundthe "ORCA" name plate is revealed, and there's a big declamatory minor chord. As if a bombshell has been dropped. "What a minute That's the Orca!" Is that just for people that can only remember that boat by name?

And what was the other diver doing while the first one was getting attacked? It was made to look like they were both taken by surprise, one after the other. Even though they were posing or taking a photograph for each other.

BTW. I get that people dig the Revenge opening titles. The photography is well done and the music is great (It is the Jaws music after all). The idea of the police chief getting eaten in the middle of the harbour while a choir sings Christmas carols on the dock is pretty sick. The idea of the shark being able to get him and sink the boat in a matter of seconds like that is pretty ludicrous though.

What amuses me even more is that ORCA name plate is a JAWS 2 addition. No such name plate can be seen in the original JAWS.

I always inaugurate Summer with listening to the soundtrack to Jaws and it's awesome bonus disc of unreleased cues (called 'Jaws 2' for some reason) and then watching the original movie.

Seriously, though, the score for the second one is prime John Williams. The man could do no wrong between 1975-1984, and I still love most everything else in addition.

I had a bit of a Jaws fest last weekend.

Watched Jaws (my all time favorite film and always how I start my summer).

Listened to the Mondo Vinyl release.

Watched Jaws 2 (still think it's a pretty damn solid sequel)

Watched Jaws 3 in 3D in my home theater. Cheesy but still fun.

I then carried on with my life pretending 4 never existed.

I love Donna Wilkes, and she's actually my favorite part of the movie. I'm all for a good freak-out. She's right up there with Susan Swift in that regard.

That's pretty much exactly how i look at it ! Except i feel like i love 2 more than anyone lol. I am actually gearing up for my annual Jaws-a-thon that will take place at home when i have a few days off prior to July 4th. I always feel like it is the perfect time for these movies since Jaws is the quintessential summer blockbuster and 2 is awesome and 3 has been revived in my book with the 3D release. Oh, and yes i too skip 4 because there is no 4.

BTW does anyone else remember Donna Wilkes as the disco burnout in the Incredible Hulk TV show ?
You got a good reputation. But if I was you, I'd have located in the next county.

Blu Ray Wish List : Judgement Night, Things To Do In Denver When Your Dead, School Ties, Pump Up The Volume, The Abyss, A Thin Line Between Love & Hate, Dead Presidents, House Party, Dave Chappelle's Block Party, Chappelle Show, V (TV Series, 1980's) & any Hip Hop on Blu Ray.

I agree with every word of this post, except the part about you loving Jaws 2 more than anyone else. That would be me, actually

I can't really put my finger on why I love Jaws 2 so much, but I think it has a lot to do with childhood nostalgia and that it's one of the main blueprints for the modern slasher movie. It's the only one in the series that I would truly call a horror movie.
