In the same interview Richard Elliott who co founded 88 Films with James Blower, states that Gestapo's Last Orgy would've got through uncut had it been released by 88 Films 5 years previously. Also Ebola Syndrone is completely uncut which he states too.

It would cost them £5000.00 to appeal the Gestapo's outright ban. Apparently that's the going rate.

Yes, you'll be getting the version in the article that you linked to which is the uncut print, the film before it was censored for its Hong Kong release. The so-called "Extended Cut" added the deleted footage back into the Hong Kong cut, with some frames and sound missing and it all looked rough as the deleted footage was of much lower quality. The release by 88 Films will have the new 4K scan from the complete original negative. Which is...

... yes, the same print used for the Vinegar Syndrome release. I watched the VS version twice (first the film, then again with director Herman Yau and star Anthony Wong's audio commentary), then not long after that I watched the print provided to me by 88 Films as I prepared to do the art for their cover. It looks amazing.

So... totally uncut. As uncut as the film was when the director finished it. Nothing missing. As uncut as it was before it met censorship requirements to be released in Hong Kong. THE version you want to see.

I’ve already got both cuts of Miami Vice via the US and UK blu rays. What’s the selling point for me? Are the encodes likely to be (much) better - presumably somewhat with AVC vs VC-1? Likelihood of 88 procuring new extras? Likelihood of them sourcing deleted scenes (a grail for me considering there is so much (good) deleted footage from this film)?

Appreciate you posting this. Let's hope the Pete Walker boxset referred to in that interview question answer is worth the wait.

Only had a quick look in my local HMV today (partly because of how busy it was in the store (and shopping mall). Saw Killer's Moon on the shelf (forgot which other new releases out today I was looking for on the shelves).

I think what Bob is trying to say is that the version of EBOLA SYNDROME you're getting is the full uncut version with all the footage removed by the HK censors restored.

Frank Djeng has also mentioned in the HK Cinema Appreciation FB group that he's doing an audio commentary for Ebola Syndrome and the version 88 Films sent him to record it on is uncut.

Interesting to see you mention House on the Edge of the Park as coming later this year. Has that now been delayed or will it be a late addition to your remaining 2022 releases?

I believe he is the author of the interview, and not a member of the 88 Films team

If i had to speculate, I’d assume that the delays with various titles (including their first 2 4Ks), might have pushed it further back in the schedule, so hopefully we’ll see it in Jan.

Either that, or work is still going on the transfer
