Downgraded to a '15' yet read the consumer advice.

I've never got around to watching Beatrice even though I backed the campaign to get it remastered and I love Fulci it's still sat in my stack of discs to watch. Nightmare Beach is silly Italian masquerading as American fun, I'm rather fond of it as the premise is silly.

I've only seen Beatrice Cenci out of the three. It's a good film but nothing sensational, if you're a fan of Fulci I'd recommend it. Because it's interesting seeing him do a different type of film than he usually does, but if you're not then I'd say no.

Crazy old BBFC. May as well just ignore their certificates these days. They've gotten steadily more unreliable in the 21st century. The reduced censorship is great but the classification system is all over the place.

That sounds like it absolutely fits with their recent consistent guidance that violence isn't 18 unless it's sadistic. Not consistent with older ratings maybe, I'll grant, but consistent with other 2021 ratings.

And wow, i'm so jealous lol. Incredible collection! I only started two months ago, so i'm pretty much doomed when it comes to slipcovers. I did manage to get Snake and Dragons forever with slip at least.

Yep, the Hong Kong films from Eureka and 88 are what finally made me pull the trigger on a region free player. All, I can say is the region free player was the best investment I could ever make.

Just went and read about it and wow, looks insanely awesome! I gotta see this haha. I'm interested in both black magic movies and Humans lantern. How are those? Horror Shaw bros has somehow escaped me so far.

Shaw Bros. horror is a thing I didn't know about till around the last 2 years. I've been so centralized on the Kung Fu nonsense that I just didn't... even think they did anything beyond it somehow.

Hong Kong horror is ****ing crazy. Seeding of a Ghost is a thing I just bought and was fascinated by. Their horror is very unique and, I'd say, underappreciated by us. Something I'm rectifying more w/ getting some of 88's back log of HK horror. Some crap stuff, as always. But the uniqueness of it makes it totally worth it. I just bought Hex, so I'm excited to see that one come in.

I see most of the older shaw bros from 88 films are discontinued, like both Black magic (and stuff like Masked avengers and house of trap), that's really disappointing!

Bub, I'm going after them in eBay now. I ALMOST bought Hex on there for like $45 USD. Then saw that 88 Films had it back in stock for £7.99 GBP. And I had some points, so I jumped on that sucker quick.

My feelings about all this Hong Kong BD stuff is that, I feel like I'm cataloging history. I don't want to know these films go gone again. They're only for me but goddamn it, I want to support those who love this stuff too. I'll buy whatever 88 Films or Eureka does w/ HK. And I'm excited to see what Arrow does. I love those 20-30 years of film, and there's more I still need to explore. Cat III, especially.

I haven't watched them in decades, but I remember the BLACK MAGIC movies being fun- crazy spells, gore, nudity, revenge. The special effects are extremely outdated (hell, as far as makeup FX go, Hong Kong films were far behind other countries until fairly recently), but still have their own strange charm and get the point across. I recall the sequel being the better of the two films.

HUMAN LANTERNS totally kicks ass! It's a wuxia (swordsmen/women story), mystery, action, drama, horror flick. Top-notch cast, better than usual (and gruesomely effective) makeup FX, an intriguing plot, and superb costumes, sets, and production design. The horror elements are terrific, and the action stuff is fast and exciting. I'm extremely excited about 88's upcoming Blu-ray of this, a title that needs an upgrade from my Celestial/IVL and Image Entertainment DVDs.

Glad you're on board now and digging these films so much. Thanks for supporting physical releases. You and others on this forum are the reason we're still getting Blu-ray releases of these incredible films.

Oh man, I am so in for Humans lantern then haha. As someone from Canada, i've only just just started collecting 88 films and Eureka releases two months ago. I just received Chinese Boxer and i'm planning on getting all of the upcoming Shaw bros releases from 88, no doubt about it. This is a great time to be a fan.

It really, really is.

I can't go all in on the Shaws as there are just too many for me to buy them all (too much of a good thing! by no means a complaint at all).

Regarding the flood of HK movies from 88 films & Eureka releases, I'm pre-ordering all Chan, Sammo, Biao & Wang Yu titles day one, all others I'm looking into on a film by film basis (really looking forward to getting Full Alert for example). I'm not a fan of Wuxia or wire-fu movies so I'm trying to avoid those.
