I'd really like a blu ray release with that lovely theatrical poster artwork on it.

Here's another wish for The Shootist.

That one really puzzles me - John Wayne's last film (and a very good one!) with an all-star cast, and no US hi-def release. It seems like it have major interest among fans. It's a real- head-scratcher to me why it has been over-looked for so long.

Yes, you’d think Ron Howard now a famous director would say come on now let’s get this released on Blu-ray in the USA with an all new remaster, commentary and featurettes, lol.

After all he was in the movie and could give his insights. Ron Howard please can you speak to Paramount?

Whoever was responsible for putting together those bullet points certainly needs a refresher course on how the film was released. It was not shot open-matte in 1949…that was the industry’s standard ratio. When it was finally released 8 years later, it was cropped at the top and bottom of the image to give it a faux widescreen look. Thankfully my Kino BD provided the originally-shot 1.1:37 version.

I don't think this is widely regarded as a "great" movie, but it had jets and John Wayne and a pretty lady, and it could use a better transfer. I'll definitely double dip if it is.

Yes, will get it too, it kinda a typical Indicator release best available transfer, great extras for a so so film.

BFI are soon releasing Brannigan too. Don't much about the quality of that film.

Brannigan is a good film. Uses the London locations well and moves at a brisk pace. John Wayne's character in the film has to adapt to British ways of policing (or perhaps it's the other way around). It's a fish out of water type scenario.

It's great that the BFI are releasing it on Blu-ray.

I have the Twilight Time and the Kino release but if they include some new extras and commentary, I'll buy it again!

I own the TT release, but would buy it again if the stereo tracks were included on this newer release
