Ended up driving by that grocery store 25 miles away and got Star is Born 4K for $3.99. With the videogame deals they sometimes get bought up before I get to the redbox, but it's nice that it seems like no one seems to know or care about 4K redbox purchases in my area.

In a shake my head type of move, Scary Stories To Hear in the Dark is available to rent in 4K. Not Hobbs and Shaw, not Alita, not Lion King 2019 or Toy Story 4, not Stuber, not Spiderman Far From Home, not MIB International, not X-Men Dark Phoenix.

I'm thinking it's either studio agreements, or that Redbox is having trouble renting these out. I'm in the LA'ish area and there are a few redboxes that have had the same 4k discs for sale available for the past 4-5 months. Plus, this area has blanket coverage for 4k disc rentals - I probably have 10 redboxes within 4 miles.

I don't see anything about 4K.

Sorry if they was explained but how do I find out? ...

My thinking after visiting a few close by locations is 4K is not in this area.

Found some info -4K UHD discs are currently available at select locations in Austin, Colorado Springs, Des Moines, Detroit, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, Reno, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Spokane and Portland, Oregon. We hope to expand to more areas soon, so keep checking back.

Yes. Nothing new on more cities. We shall see what happens early next year. With Sony announcing the PS5 will have a 4K disc player I hope it means more titles and wider expansion for the format in Redbox kiosks. Unfortunately the PS5 will not be available until late 2020.

They don't even rent the 4K titles in my area, most people here in the south are lacking in the tech knowledge and would probably think they played in a dvd player. No interest on my part to buy disc only copies of redbox films though

Just bought Godzilla: KotM 4K for a little over $4.

No need for the BD disc and digital anyway. Now I just need to find Captain Marvel because that kiosk didn’t carry it.

Anyone know if the redbox 4k discs usually come with special features? Most of the blu-rays except for a few studios do, I was wondering if certain studios or if all the studios don't include special features on 4k discs.

I don't have a 4k player or a 4k tv yet. I'm probably taking the 4k plunge soon.

They're the same "4K" discs as the retail packages. Generally they're movie only relying on the included BD for the special features.

Thanks fellas. I thought I read somewhere that the audio and movie take up all the space on the disc, but I wasn't entirely sure.

I'm not sure it's really a space issue. I think it's lets them be lazy and save money. The menus can be much simpler and they don't have to localize the discs to a given geographic region (I realize they're region free).

The kiosk I visited last night had Shazam! for $6.99, so it’s interesting to see it’s lower elsewhere. The rest seem about right, as Anna and Hellboy were the same price listed above.

Edit: Found the Captain Marvel 4K disc just 5 minutes from my house.
