Default anyone still use vinyl records?

i'm new to the world of vinyl. my friend's had one for some time and it's time for me to finally buy my first record player. i was curious if anyone can point me in the right direction. i'm looking for a good but affordable turntable for beginners.

this is what i'm leaning towards:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PS-LX300U...=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

also i don't have a stereo, the only system i have set up is through my computer speakers. its a nice one. but can i hook up my record player through my computer system and play it through my speakers? again i am a noob sorry if these are stupid questions.

any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I am by no means a vinyl expert, but I think you might have issues running a player through anything that doesn't have a dedicated "phono" input. I doubt your computer has that, but I could be wrong. Many A/V receivers these days are even starting to phase those out.

I think what you need is a pre-amp to make sure that it'll work with your gear. Something like this. If you have that, you'll be able to hook it up to just about anything with RCA inputs.

EDIT: I see that the link to the player at Amazon is a USB player, so if you're going with that, obviously you'll be able to hook it up to a computer. Actually if you look at my entire post, it's totally useless because this works with modern A/V receivers, too!

You should get the Vinyl iPod then

And to the OP.... YES... still spin Vinyl, and always will... it's still the best format for audio.
