suggestion
  • call customer support (guidance)
  • as i recall, there are (3)-settings you need to select for proper performance
  • i believe that you need to do the setting(s) per input
  • just a suggestion
  • my family has several (Vizio P-Series), and one display was in HD, rather than UHD (for too long) - (entirely unknown)

I noticed Best Buy currently has the 65" P Series for $999 and have 2x rewards points this weekend... But I also saw Sam's Club has it for $899. I may finally bite and price match at Best Buy.

Iíve consistently been looking at the 55 but I kinda wanna put a 4K tv in my living room. I currently have a Panasonic VT60 out there now, these newer 65ís are a lot thinner than 5-6 years ago, so I think I can do a 65 out there now. Tempting...$900 for a 65Ē...

I think we have discussed this before, but I too have a Panny VT-series (the VT50 I think, provided it's a 50" plasma), but I can't in good conscience put that TV out to pasture in another room just yet cuz it just still looks great and performs without a hitch. I was more looking to replace my old Vizio 55" set in the basement but aside from it not being 4K/UHD-capable, it too just plugs along. Sigh, first-world problems...

I have the same TV as you. The physical dimensions of the newer 65" flat screens are comparable to the dimensions of the VT60. The difference is there's more screen real estate on the newer TV's where as, ours has a bit of a bezel all the way around. The difference really won't be that much.

Panasonic VT60 dimensions (with stand): 56.2" x 36.1" x 12.2

Samsung 65" QLED dimensions: 57.1 x 35.8"x 11.2 inches

Just about a half an inch in width is all you're gaining in terms of actual space.

Yeah..I'm still just torn on moving this VT60 to a back room, still an amazing tv, Just having that urge to go to 4K.. May hold out for a 2018 OLED when they clearance them out.

Personally I'm waiting a while. I still think there's plenty of room for OLED to be perfected, especially in the area of motion and ways to deal with burn in. Plus like you said, our current sets still look amazing. I'm in no hurry whatsoever. With 8K looming (which is such a STUPID thing on the vast majority of household TV's) I'm willing to bet there will be some sweet deals to be had on 4K sets at some point.

Yep, precisely where I'm at as well. I kinda subscribe to the Toy Story school of thought in that I feel as though my TVs have a soul and for me to banish them to some other room in their house after so many great years in service would hurt their feelings.

Ended up picking up a 2018 PQ65 this past weekend for $1249. Too good of a deal to pass up. It had dropped $500 in like 2 months presumably due to the announcement of the 2019 models.

I know this is the Vizio P series thread, but I had to share considering we'd been talking about getting new tvs...

Was browsing Slickdeals and Brickseek and noticed the Samsung 55" Q6F/QFN was becoming cheaper and cheaper at Walmart. Most stores were clearancing them to around $699 past few weeks. So I kept checking and checking. Noticed some stores around me had dropped to $649 and $599. Decided to randomly check today, and noticed a store around 25 minutes from me had one for $497! Felt like a solid deal for a decent, entry/mid level 4K set

This won't replace the Panasonic plasma, gonna go in a spare room/collection room.

Anyone else who owns the P series have issues with turning the TV on?

I've been having to either unplug the TV or mess around with the remote until it decides to work. It either does nothing or will turn on and then off by itself (sometimes repeatedly). I also am having some difficulty using my Amazon Fire TV. So far, there is no audio via Netflix and Prime Video, or it works for just a second.

So getting the TV to turn on properly doesn't appear to be an issue anymore (yay! lol). As for my Fire TV, I haven't messed around with it again and just been using Vizio's built-in Netflix & VUDU apps. The USB function has also been great! However, I'm not sure if it's possible to change audio or disable subtitles when watching MKV videos. Although that's not really a problem unless the video is in your native language and you find the subtitles to be unnecessary. lol

I’m having problems with a dimming issue but found out it was one of the updates so I turned off full array dimming for now. Hopefully they fix the issue soon.
