Default Steelbook Display Practices

I just started getting into collecting limited steelbooks from places like Blufans, Manta, HDZeta, etc. my question is: how do you guys/girls keep yours? Opened? Unopened? Protective sleeves? Protective plastic slipcovers? I want to keep them clean and protected from harm but I also want them opened so I’m just trying to get an idea of what you all go with when dealing with your own collections.

I just started as well. I only have 6 with 2 more pre-ordered. As of now I keep them (opened) on a shelf with the rest of my Blurays. But I’d like to set them apart somehow as my collection grows.

Started in 2009. I have over 350 I think.

I have shown how I display some of my steelbooks before on here but it always gathers too much attention and my post gets deleted.

Here is a video of my shadow box I had made for my steelbooks. I have 3 on the bedroom wall.

edit : None of this is for sale so please don't ask.

I have mine shoved in with my amaray’s....probably defeats the purpose of them a bit.

Just seen Zavvi are now selling individual frames for them...

I use steelbook covers from http://www.steelbookcentral.com/stee...ctors-13-c.asp. Some opened, some not. Most of the Disney are sealed, only because they were double dips of movies I already owned. In the pics, steelbooks are all to the left, amrays to the right. I Use besta frames from ikea that are 7 and 7/8 inch deep....I don’t like the excess shelf space in front of cases that results from 12 and 15 inch shelf units. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60245919/
The shelf’s stack nice, are very solid, and a couple screws to the wall keep them from tipping

No real rhyme or reason on placement....Disney is all together. Stuff the kids shouldn’t watch is up higher. Still a work in progress

I have mine without the J card in plastic sleeves that you can get from Amazon, 50 for $6 shipped. They are super tight and give off that unopened look. I like them way better than most sleeves that look baggy. Can be a pill getting in and out though, because of that I am looking at upgrading my collection to SC2s and SC3s for those with j cards here soon. Love the convenience of the side loaders.

I just put my steelbooks in with my regular amarays, all alphabetical.

It's just easier and I don't have the room for displaying steelbooks like a painting.

It’s an old farmhouse that I live in, every room has 2 ways in. That particular door goes into the wife’s office, which also has another door. We never use that door so I moved the set to the longer wall....made it a much better viewing experience. I’ve been debating removing the door altogether. But.....having that door makes it SO EASY to get to the back of the unit I just couldn’t bring myself to close it off. Now I’m looking at a curtain or something to hang instead. Another option is more shelves across the top to at least cover the frame

Yeah, in that case I can see where being able to access the back of it would come in very handy.

I'm sure we've all experienced the frustration of having to try to make some kind of changes to the set up, and what a PITA it is to get back there!

All opened.
All "naked" (j-cards in a box).
But all in hard SC3 plastic slipcases and mixed in with my amarays.

To display them any other way is overkill IMHO.
And to not open them at all is just crazy.

I don't have any fancy import Steels, just ones readily available here in the U.S. They're all opened, J-cards removed and stored away, and mixed in with the rest of my movies, alphabetically by title. So absolutely nothing special.

What's the point of having the beautiful art of steelbooks, if you're not going to display them?

I have a little 6'x4' closet that I converted into a movie storage room. I used to have posters on the walls, but I realized I'd rather have 80 posters on the walls than just 3 of them:
