I thought the 3D was a huge disappointment, especially when compared to the 3D in Skull: Island.

It really isn’t decent. It’s a disgrace. Flat depth and zero pop outs. Utterly worthless.

Yep, I went from Skull Island to Fallen Kingdom. What a contrast.

Sounds like you have a broken 3D TV.

Looks good here.

The 3D is perfectly fine. It's not as good as JW but it still delivers the goods with nice depth and layers.

I still have yet to watch this in 3D. I watched the UHD once, but I think this is such a bad movie, I don't think I can stand to go through this again in either 4K or 3D.

I have a projector, a OLED and a PSVR headset. I actually thought I had a problem after some said it was decent. I tested it on all three and it was poor. I then tested Skull Island again and it absolutely popped on all three methods.

I can assure you, my set up is capable of some utterly staggering 3D like ‘The Bubble’, ‘House Of Wax’ , ‘Gravity’ and ‘Skull Island’.

Thankfully, I have spoken to dozens of people now who also thought it was bad. I just think some people are easily pleased.

VonMagnum can you give me a time stamp and an example of good depth or pop out?

Definitely agree that Fallen Kingdom is nowhere near the 3D quality of the other titles you listed...that said, I wouldn’t call it “Flat” as the layering and depth of field is certainly improved over the 2D. I wouldn’t call it “good” but “fair” may be apt.

I forgot I was watching 3D. I don't think fair is fair!

Seriously, if it’s labelled as 3D, I want to see 3D. I love the format but I fear some people just give it a free pass because it’s 3D. Nope, not for me.

Worst transfer of that year for me

The 3D looked good on my set. It was stronger than Solo's 3D. We all see it differently though and don't have to feel the same. I'm less positive about the movie itself mind.

A flat film looks better 3D than Solo!

I'd have to watch it again to get specific points in Fallen Kingdom as it's been several months since I watched it last. I remember being more disappointed in the DTS:X sound and the weak sequel story than the picture. But then I've seen a "lot" (relatively speaking) of people say Blade Runner 2049 had a weak 3D picture too and it's one of my favorites as I thought it looked natural, not exaggerated.

Meanwhile, a 'lot' of people said Mission Impossible Fallout's 3D was 'great' and I thought it was OK but boring most of the film (I was certainly expecting more) and with the reduced resolution of Sky's picture, I preferred the 2K 2D sharpness, let alone 4K and that's a first for me, I think (other than The Final Countdown). I've always liked 3D better.

I don't recall Solo being 'great' 3D, but I don't recall it being anywhere near 'flat'. You want flat 3D? Watch The Final Countdown (might as well not even be called 3D).

The only thing great as far as 3D goes regarding Mission: Impossible Fallout, was the helicopter sequence. It was very evident when I saw it in Imax 3D. As for the rest of the movie, might as well watch it in 2D.

@VonMagnum, are you referring to The Final Countdown (1980) with Kirk Douglas? I doubt it's the song from Europe, though

Yeah, the German version is available in 3D (probably an auto-conversion, although I think it has less 3D than the projector generating it). It doesn't look "fake" so much as it looks so mild might as well not even bother (save a couple of brief spots here and there). Still, it has the 7.1 soundtrack and and transferred over as 2D looks pretty good and costs half of what the other 7.1 2D only version costs AND comes with a second movie for some odd reason ("Proof" from 1991 with Russell Crowe and Hugo Weaving) so it's still a solid deal even so, IMO.

It's mild 3D, but the DTS:X audio is anything but mild. At least on my system.
